talk about embarassing!

I was flipping through my Parents magazine the other night,
when I stumbled upon this:
photo-27
Okay, yes, let’s get the obvious outta the way…
It’s sad…
poor little guy…
ow,
that must have hurt like crazy…
yada, yada, yada…
But come on!?!
Whose bright idea was it to post his picture with the story?
Embarrassing, right?
I mean, I can totally see his mom clipping the picture and putting it in his baby book,
and then one day showing off his first taste of the celebrity life!
Probably even to his first girlfriend.
And every girlfriend after that.
Maybe she’ll even put it in the slideshow at his wedding for a sweet surprise.
Poor sweet Lucah.
Oh, the therapy I foresee in his future.
Anyway, kinda makes your issues not seem so bad now, huh?
Your welcome.

the big winner!!!

I am so not camera ready,
so instead of vlogging the winner,
I decided to just use good ol’ random.org.
Which I’m not a fan of,
because then I have to count through the comments.
And I’m lazy, and tired,
and math was so so long ago for me.
But, I made a promise to pick the winner tonight,
so here I am…
counting…
to the chosen number 61.
(ugh, was so hoping it would be in the top 10…wanted less to count.)
The big winner tonight is…..
Congrats girlee!!
Email me and we’ll work out the details!
And you know….
I have ANOTHER giveaway coming up tomorrow or Tuesday.
And of course,
you will DIE for it.
Promise.
Pinky swear even.

fashion friday

I was so excited about feeling like a human again,
that I decided to go all out for my HurryDate event tonight and wear EYE MAKEUP.
Yes people, I watched a Tiffany D. makeup tutorial,
and then spent the next 30 minutes attempting a DIY.
I’m such a dork though,
and am completely lame when it comes to applying my own fancy pants tricks,
that after one eye I had to come back and watch the tutorial a second time just to make sure I was doing it right.
I wasn’t.
Really, it looks NOTHING like hers, but it was still makeup and I was happy.
Photo on 2010-04-15 at 17.45 #2
And then once my eyes were done,
I set out to find myself the cutest potato sack I could find in my closet in order to hide the lumps and junk collected in the month of being sick, not working out, and eating like crap.
{not a good three way, lemme tell you.}

I realize it’s not the most flattering thing ever,
but that was kinda the point.
I had nothing to flatter.
Plus, it made me feel comfy….
and after 15ish days of being sick,
I welcomed comfort.
And can you tell that I am so having a moment with my necklace?
I wonder if I’ll ever wear anything else again.
I bet you’re wondering that too, huh?
One day, one day.

~~~~~~~
Now let’s all hold hands and pray that I’ve now paid my dues in the sick world,
so that from here until ever,
I can sit back, relax, and be healthy.
Cheers to that, right?
there’s a new me in the mirror
ROMINA3_large
I’ve known for awhile I had this problem.
I knew it wasn’t right.
It wasn’t normal.
But I thought I was able to deal with it.
I thought I could fix it on my own….
I knew it was still controlling my life, my thoughts…my soul.
I knew that I had lived with it for far too long, and it was time.
This had to be the year that I faced my demon and said goodbye to the issue once and for all.
And then I wrote a post
trying to show my side.
My view…
and how I’m not so much different than others who may be further down the spectrum.
It’s been three and a half months of good times in counseling.
Okay, whatever….
therapy.
Call it what you will.
And when I say good times, I mean enlightening.
And what’s crazy is that we’ve hardly touched upon the actual issue.
Her motto is,
“It’s not what you’re eating, it’s what’s eating you.”
And there we have been focused.
What’s eating me.
I knew I had the issue.
But I didn’t know why, where it came from, or how to get rid of it.
I was stuck,
I felt hopeless.
Months later, I can finally see a new me in the mirror.
Because I now know why.
I can see where it came from,
and I am beginning the process of moving past it.
And that seems to be more than half the battle.
It’s crazy.
The moment she called out the cause,
I just knew.
It fit.
It was right.
It was so wrong,
but it was right.
I’d found the truth.
And in JUST knowing the truth,
I felt such incredible freedom.
I still have far to go.
I still struggle.
But, I am no longer obsessed.
Each week, I become more and more content.
I don’t weigh in every day.
Or even every week.
I can eat free for a day…
or three…
and not feel incredible guilt.
I don’t compare…
as much,
I look for the positive,
more often.
It’s a slow uphill climb,
but it’s been incredibly worth it.
I can see the other side.
And I truly believe one day I will be free.
{I know there were a TON of links….but if you struggle with eating/body issues, going back and reading those will definitely help you to know you’re not alone…we can beat this together.}
home decor galore by brunch at saks
My family has now been hit with strep….it started with me, went to Taylor, and now Jimmy is pulling up in the ranks. Because we’re all cozy in bed resting with antibiotics, I thought I’d postpone my vitamin/supplement post and allow my sweet Annemarie to take things over…she has THE best sense of style when it comes to decorating.
~~~~~~~
First, thank you Summer for allowing me to guest post on your amazing blog!
I thought I would bring over some interior design love from Brunch at Saks and show this super cute, modern, and chic apartment from Copenhagen.
The owners did a great job creating a functional yet inspiring space by using bold stripes, natural wood pieces, and a blue-gray palette.
Bold textiles and accent pieces complete each room with just the perfect touch!

what do i eat?

3980650379_d169c470a7_large
A lot of you know that I am almost 100% gluten and sugar free,
as well as almost completely organic.
Actually I would say 6 of the 7 days, I eat this way.
It started as a cleanse, but I ended up liking the way I felt so much eating that way, that I decided to go semi full time.
I do allow a reward meal…
okay…sometimes it’s actually a day or weekend depending on what’s going on.
It seems to work for me.
All in moderation, right?
I just think,
actually I know when it comes to myself…
that if I cut something out completely,
I will go OVERBOARD!
Anyway…a few of you guys have asked since I cut out gluten & sugar,
“So then what DO YOU EAT?”
And while I am still learning and finding new things,
I thought I’d share a few things I have found kinda work for me.
Also, keep in mind I am PICKY.
I eat like a child.
I like things plain.
Simple.
And I can eat the same things day in and day out.
So, maybe I’m not the BEST person to give food advice,
but whatever.
It’s my blog,
so let’s keep making it about me for the moment.
Okay, so here’s a list of things I love that are pretty low cal, healthy, and super duper yummy.
*Gluten Free Waffles w/butter and low sugar jelly
(I get the ones from Henry’s that have the Omega 3’s)
*Think Thin Bars
(or bites, which are amazingly delish.)
*Lara Bars
(I especially love the Peanut Butter or PB&J ones)
*Organic Apples/Organic All Natural Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
*Rice Cake w/Peanut Butter (or almond butter) and either sugar free or low sugar jelly
*All Fruit
(everything with exposed skin, I eat organic.)
*Nut Thin Crackers
(Love the cheddar ones, mm mm mmmmm!)
*Edamame Crackers from Trader Joes
*Zevia
(all natural soda sweetened with Stevia, for you diet coke fans)
*Guru
(my happy crack!)
*Lundberg Creamy Parmesean Risotto w/organic free range chicken breast
*Taco salad, with organic spinach, free range organic meat/turkey, organic tomatoes, and shredded cheese
*Quinoa made with vegetable stock, topped with free range organic chicken breast
~~~~~~~
Okay, so this is JUST the beginning.
Gluten Free Mommy and Gluten Free Girl both have awesome recipes,
and if you have a Sprouts,
then you will hit the jackpot!
I always find awesome gluten free/low or no sugar snacks and ideas.
Oooh, and I just found some chicken nuggets there that are ORGANIC and GLUTEN FREE, and the kids munch those babies like they’re going out of style.
One thing Tracy Anderson suggests is going dairy free,
but I’m not yet completely on that bandwagon.
Anybody have research that can sway me one way or the other?
I am already not a big milk lover,
but Jimmy is definitely not on board with cutting dairy out of our lives.
So we’re half and half.
Anyway, that about covers it for food.
I think.
If you have any questions, just ask in the comments.
And if you have any other amazing food ideas, leave those too!!!
And tomorrow….last part of the heath expo.
I’ll answer any questions you have,
and fill you in on supplements and vitamins that I deem important.
how to do the tracy anderson method
Catchy and creative title, right?
I know, I’m crazy clever.
So, I really love health & fitness posts on other blogs,
like MASS…
and I got to thinking,
“Hey, I might have something to add.”
And while I’m no expert, I definitely know what I like.
And I’m finally starting to figure out what seems to work for me.
At the moment.
Because if you know me,
you know I get bored and I like to switch things up.
But right now,
I am TOTALLY digging the Tracy Anderson Method.
It just seems to be the kind of workout that suits me and my body.
Tracy-Anderson-Any-Woman-Can-Have-Madonna-s-Body-2
Plus, I kinda wouldn’t mind looking like that…
Okay, so now you’re thinking….
“I might be interested…tell me what I should do.”
And I’m thinking,
“OKAY! I will!”
{If I sound delirious, know I am fighting off the flu. Again. I blame any bad writing on that.}
Okay…actually,
what might be easier is if I just tell you what I’ve been doing or plan to do in the weeks beyond.
{Always at nap time….}
Week 1:
Start with Post Pregnancy DVD and follow up with Dance Cardio.
Week 2:
Start with Dance Cardio and follow up with Post Pregnancy DVD, using ankle weights for the leg portion and the moving them to my arms for the weightless arm portion.
Week 3:
Start with Mat Workout and follow up with Dance Cardio
Week 4:
Start with Dance Cardio and follow up with Mat Workout
Week 5:
Week 6:
Start with Dance Cardio II, and follow up with all three webisodes
Week 7:
Start with Perfect Design I and follow up with Dance Cardio II
Week 8:
Start with Dance Cardio II and follow up with PD I
Week 9:
Start with PD II and follow up with Dance Cardio
Are you seeing a pattern here?
Pretty much follow this same pattern using PD II and III….
And then start all over.
That’s what’s so great about these workouts,
there’s enough out there that it lasts two months or MORE,
and then you can start back at the beginning.
This mixing things up helps so you continue muscle confusion,
which is essential so that you don’t plateau.
Very important.
Also, if you find after 2 weeks using the same video that you are still kinda feeling challenged,
I would think it’s safe to say,
{in my non professional opinion}
go one more week and then switch it up.
But when it starts to get easy,
it’s most def time to move on!
One more thing….besides all her videos and webisodes,
you can find a TON of things online and on YouTube to add in for variety.
I posted an arm workout here
she also has a fun lil treadmill workout,
and a trampoline routine…
just to name a few.
Her Facebook page has a plethora of ideas and information if you take time to read through the posts.
And I have all the free online webisodes along with other workouts of hers in one place here.
Tracy recommends that you do her method 5-6 times a week,
and I actually do at least 5.
But then again, I LOVE to workout.
Or at least I love to do her workouts.
You’re worried about the time commitment, right?
I know.
But listen…
I have three kids,
and here’s how I do it:
I put my two youngest down for a nap,
my oldest gets quiet time,
and mama gets her workout.
If something is super important you CAN find the time.
Tomorrow, I’ll write about food tips that have seemed to help me…
in case you want to know that too.
=)
Look at me…
next up I’ll be doing seminars.
Ha!
Tracy, I’m available for hire.
{believe it or not, I was not paid or given free things for this post, although, I wouldn’t mind doing so in the future.
Ahem.}
