This may be the SHORTEST fashion friday ever,

because we leave Miami in just a few hours,

and the sun is waiting for me to visit it at the pool.

And who am I to keep the sun waiting?

We went out to South Beach last night,

and I got to wear my new fave dress (f21).

I’ll have to take a picture of it from the back when I get home,

because it’s just so dang cute!

But, we were in a rush last night….

something about me taking too long to get ready….

so Jimmy only allowed this one picture.

Photographers,

they can be so fussy sometimes.

Anyway…

Oh.

Might I mention I think I’m sick again?

After FINALLY completing my antibiotics for strep…

my throat hurts something awful again.

What’s the deal with that?

Can you get strep throat back to back?

I guess maybe I should go see if the sun can heal it.

Oh ya, and tomorrow….

FOR REALS YO….

Just some stuff to make you lol.

Literally.

Which will from now on be referred to as:

llol

I guess things are just WAY funnier when you have had good sleep and no kids around.

Hmmm, imagine that.

Her: wait…is it weird that I took a pic?

Me: No! That is hilarious!

Her: And she wasn’t shopping for new pants either!!

And in other news….

So, being a tourist and all,

I decided to try out one of the temporary tattoo stands I came across in South Beach,

since I have an appointment for Saturday for another REAL one.

{pause for a moment of shock}

I have an idea for one that I want on my right wrist,

and another idea for my left arm.

The wrist will be a surprise,

but the arm one could end up looking something like this:

I’ve always thought it would be cool to get 4 flowers for us four sisters

(this one only had three)….

I can’t decide if I would want color or not,

or if I’m kinda digging keeping them black.

Thoughts?

Ideas to make it more unique?

I so crazy.

it’s time to redecorate

Jimmy and I have made the decision to stay put in le apartmente for awhile longer.

When we first moved here,

it was because the economy was bad,

and we were certainly living up to

(thankfully not beyond)

our means at the time.

So we made a grown up decision and decided to downsize and really save,

and focus on what was important.

Quality time.

I thought it would only be a year,

and then our dream home would show up and we’d happily move into our forever after.

But you know, such is not the case.

The California market is funny,

and while prices are definitely down,

we believe…

(and our being told by our friend in realty),

that they will continue to drop.

So.

Here we stay.

But, not without some changes.

Last week I sent an urgent email to my sister/interior designer and bribed her with sun,

In n Out,

Wings n Things,

and little mini getaway to Laguna Beach….

if she would just come down and help me redecorate our little place.

I feel like in order to make it work ANOTHER year with THREE kids now,

something’s gotta be different.

{at least that’s what I tell Jimmy.}

But, really….

I’m just kinda bored with the look.

So come mid May….

things will be getting a face lift,

and I am SO excited.

I’ll be sure to take pictures of all the befores and afters…

so you can be inspired by my sisters amazing talent.

Got my blogging done in the morning with NO interruptions,

and now I’m gonna workout with Tracy…

It’s a rough life.

diy backsplash/tiles for your kitchen

I’m always looking for ways to change things up in my apartment,

especially when I am getting antsy to move to a house….

So, this weekend I decided it was time to change the print of my homemade backsplash tiles that I made when we first moved in a year ago.

I just love how something so small, simple, and easy can completely change a look!

As my taste often changes,

I recently found myself not so much a fan of bright orange.

Instead I wanted something a little more classic and simple….

So I decided to attempt the adorable braids I saw T,

Too cute…and super easy to do!

Soooo…next week I’ll be blogging from Miami.

I thought about taking a break while I was gone,

but you know what?

I think it will actually be nice to blog WITHOUT distraction.

I mean, what is that like anyway?

Jimmy will be working most of the days, so I’ll just be hanging out,

sleeping, reading, shopping, sleeping, laying out (if it doesn’t rain)…

and I will so enjoy every moment of the silence I plan to experience.

The sound of no fighting.

I liter-ally can’t wait.

right now? i’m busy pouting.

I wrote this about a month ago and just had it saved as a draft.

I finally decided to post it, even though I’m no longer in this place,

mostly because I am sure there is someone who can relate!

I’m not so much a fan of those life moments that seem to occur only so as to give you insight into the ugly truth about yourself.

I’m in one of those moments,

and it doesn’t feel so good.

I know what the “right” thing to feel is.

I know what the “admirable” thing to do is.

But I am not in that place.

I am not wanting to do what’s right.

I want to instead do what feels good,

what is most comfortable and ideal for me.

I don’t want to think about anybody else for once.

I don’t want to think of what’s best or what’s ahead.

Because I can’t help but remember what was.

It was comfortable.

It was my ideal.

And so I stand here,

stomping my feet,

with my hands on my hips,

and tears in my eyes…

Because this is not the way it was supposed to be.

This was NOT my plan.

I’m not proud.

But I’m not perfect.

And when I’m done pouting,

I’ll pick myself up…

and remember…

that what really matters most,

is beyond me.

I’ll remember that later.

Cause right now?

I’m busy pouting.

be still my heart

My first born…

…is five today.

It’s been a long five years,

let me tell you.

And while I’ve waited a long time for this day,

now that it’s here….

I’m feeling a bit sentimental.

What started as this:

soon became this…

and before I knew it, he was 1.

{first broken arm}

{first guitar lesson}

Two was kinda rough, and we almost didn’t make it through…

{second broken arm}

but then he started going to the bathroom on his own…

and he looked so cute with a guitar…

not to mention he had a smile to make you melt…

so we decided to keep him around and see what three would be all about…

{from a baby….}

{…to a boy. first haircut}

He just became even cuter with a guitar…

and seriously, who could resist a 3 year old with tats?

And we knew we’d made a good decision in keeping him,

when we saw how sweet he was to his brand new little sister.

Not to mention he was totally a David Beckham in the making:

And then he turned 4…

and I was puddy in this little mans hands.

He continued to wow me with his talents…

{his first fish!}

but it was always his heart that got me the most…

{and it continues to still}

And on his last week of being 4….

{first missing tooth}

He showed me just how big he really was getting by losing his first tooth.

And then even more so by thanking ME the next morning for the dollar and candy under his pillow….

because, duh…

{spoiler alert here!}

the tooth fairy isn’t real.

And now,

he’s five.

But in my eyes….

he’ll always be my sweet little baby boy.

My firstborn son.

I love you Tay Tay Bay-Bay,

with all of my heart.

Happy Birthday sweet boy.
