I finally for the first time in months went to church, and this outfit was a result of getting excited to be among adults!
It seems with Chloe’s naps and family sicknesses, I’ve had to miss every single week, and I was really starting to get bummed out.
Anyway, I have to say, it was sooo good to be back, and I definitely soaked up every moment of worship and every morsel of wisdom.
Love.

By the way….
So, we spiffed up the site and added a few more posts….check it out!!!

Also, there’s been a change…I repeat, there has been a change!

I have something special (and maybe unexpected) planned for ya’ll, so come back, ya hear???
~~~~~~~
Now, I gotta go….tomorrow is my birthday, so I need to go wait outside for the UPS, FedEx, and mail trucks.
more than words….
I first posted this last Thanksgiving…but I think it’s going to be a yearly tradition to post it every year…because you know, sometimes there’s a lot of family drama on holidays, and you just need to find SOMETHING to be thankful for.
So just remember, we can all be thankful for Jimmy’s dancing:
~~~~~~~
On a more serious note….I have no words to thank each and every one of you who come here every day to read and see what it is that’s on my mind.
The comments, the words, the love….it means the world.
Actually more than the world.
It means….more than words….
Ahem….this calls for a song.
Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It’s not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn’t have to say that you love me
Cos I’d already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn’t make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words
Now I’ve tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close don’t ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldn’t have to say that you love me
Cos I’d already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn’t make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words
~~~~~~~
A little poem/song for you….because….
I love you.
And I’m thankful for you.
More than words.
Happy Thanksgiving.
whats your home style?
I love quizzes that tell me more about me.
So, when I saw this quiz on Home Goods, I was all giddy….
And after careful selectioning….here is my decor style:
Summer, you are a GLAMOROUS CLASSIC
{duh!}
You have a refined sensibility with an appreciation for history and tradition in your furniture and your rooms. You value beauty and craftsmanship. You are visually sensitive and understand how symmetry and a balanced layout give order to a room. But you definitely like to shake things up with some unabashed luxury and glamour to keep things from getting boring. You go for rich materials like velvets, one-of-a-kind objects, lady-like touches, glimmering accessories, and a sense of old-Hollywood romance that makes your home dramatic and elegant.
You value creativity. You are stylish and fun loving, and can be an inspiration to others. You have a natural sense of drama, and you know you have to be willing to take risks—whether with colors, finishes, furniture choices, or ideas—for your home to stand out. Your home can be happy and lively and the place all of your friends want to be.
Putting Your Style to Work!
With your style and needs in mind, here are a few tips that will help you make your home a little happier.
1. Your Design Challenge: ORGANIZE
The front hall sets the mood for your entire home. Consider how to accommodate all the room’s functions as beautifully as possible. At the very least you need a console, and if you’re short on storage, consider a dresser. Outfit the surface with nice trays and bowls for mail, keys and sunglasses. Keep a trash can for immediately tossing the junk mail. Closet-door or wall hooks encourage coat and bag hanging rather than dumping. If you have children, try to give each a basket in the closet for hats and gloves. It’s nice to have a chair or bench for changing shoes, a mirror for last-minute lipstick checks, and a lamp or sconces for warm light.
2. Your Happy Place
The more serene your bedroom feels, the happier you will be. A pretty coverlet over a big duvet makes the bed look smooth—and not all duvet-lumpy! And, a blanket folded at the foot of the bed breaks up the big expanse of fabric. Euro shams—those big square pillows—are great for reading in bed, and a few decorative pillows can also be a nice touch. Consider adding a basket or a small occasional table near your bedside table for books, papers, lotions, linen spray or whatever you’d like.
3. Be Party-Ready All the Time!
Food: Devote space in your pantry or on a shelf for go-to party essentials: crackers, dip, chips, nuts—whatever you like to serve. Keep on hand a collection of attractive bowls and cocktail napkins, and you’ll be able to set a spread—instantly!
Drink: The simplest and chicest thing is to have a drinks tray or table always set up. Include a mix of pretty glasses, an ice bucket, a lovely pitcher, and bottles of soda and water. When the bell rings, just add ice and limes.
Mood: Nice, flattering light makes us feel good. So nix the harsh, direct light from overhead fixtures in favor of the softer glow from floor and table lamps. Also, keep some votive candles and a couple of hurricane lanterns for setting around the room.
Scent: The first thing you notice about a home is how it smells. Use naturally fragrant cleaning products. If you find a scented candle or fresh potpourri you love, stock up on it. Any scent you like, whether perfume or linen spray, can be used on upholstery, bedding or just spritzed into the air.
It’s a slow week….so no excuses…go take it now!!!
i’m not greedy, just needy
It’s now exactly a week till my birthday.
{I told you the countdown was on!}
Not that after December 1, my birthday season ends.
Nuh uh, it lasts until Dec 23, for any of you out there who need more time to celebrate with me.
And while I began my list on an earlier post, since that time a few more things have come to mind….
I call it needy…not greedy.
~~~~~~~
Amazon Gift Card:
I have a list of books I feel I need to read in order to be complete. On that list are…
~Secrets of the Secret Place
~L.A. Candy {what?!? I heard it’s good…}
~The Measure of our Success: A letter to my children and yours
~Tropic of Cancer
~Cities of the Interior
{do those last two make up for the LA Candy one?}
Any others you think I’m missing???
Next up….I’m kinda crushing on the La Mer Watches. These in particular….
{mostly the black one…}
And then, I just recently discovered that I desperately need this
MomAgenda Planner:
I’m also feeling like I need some Reconstructive Surgery.
Maybe just put back what God originally intended for me to have…which I’m sure is not two skin flaps and a less than a six pack tummy.
Ya…so anybody wanna sponsor that?
{Honey?}
Just thought I’d throw that out there.
Anyway…some ideas.
Happy Shopping.

kinda like the pottery barn card holders, only better

You all remember Heather, right? My sister with the home staging business that has the funny stories?
Well, you must also know that she is crazy talented in the crafty department, and I’m not talking scrapbooks.
I’m talking these CurlyWires that she sells on etsy:
They are inspired by the Pottery Barn ones, only she somehow found a way to make them better! At least that’s what her customers have all told her.
I have one too actually, and I’m in love.
~~~~~~~
Here’s a brief discription from their website:
Turn Christmas cards & holiday photos into a bright wall decoration with this handmade wire holder. Mount it vertically or horizontally to display all of your cards and pictures. Will look great above the mantel or on the wall. The handmade wire card holder is made of 16 gauge wire and has 38 loops. The overall length of the card holder is 39 inches.
*With the purchase of every card holder, you get a free curly wire photo ornament for your tree.
Bonus – order more than 1 card holder and pay no additional shipping charges for your order.
~~~~~~~
I’m thinking that they would not only look amazing in your home during the holiday season holding your holiday cards, but also year round holding adorable family photos.
And guess what?
Because my sister is among one of the biggest fans of this blog…she has offered to giveaway one of her most amazing card holders & one of her photo ornaments (which comes free with every order, btw) to one of you guys!!!
I know, swoon, right?
So, same ol, same ol….
~make sure you’re a follower
~visit Heather’s etsy shop and show some love
~leave a comment here showing your adoration for all things Heather…and maybe mention who might benefit from receiving this as a gift
Need more chances?

monday muse fashion post

This week I was at a fashion loss for outfits. I just felt so tired and lazy, and when I looked at my closet full of clothes, I saw nothing to wear.
So, I collapsed on the couch, pulled up Twitter and went to my muse’s for inspiration. Within minutes, Lula came to my rescue. Of course it was Lula….she’s just that amazing.
She asked, “How to dress sassy, chic, AND comfortable for the holidays? Without wearing sweats. Ahem. Seriously–need HELP!”
How could I ignore such a desperate plea???
So here’s what I came up with. One chunky red (for the holidays!) sweater worn two ways…both of which I consider sassy & chic and totally comfy!

Sweater: tag says Laurette Lane {thifted}

Look #1:

Layered over a white tank, dark denim wide leg jeans, and grey metallic heels.
{Can even be worn with tights for those of you NOT in SoCal!}

Tank: Hanes, {Target}

Jeans: Roxy, {TJ Maxx}

Heels: Mossimo, {Target}

Necklace: {Platos Closet Resale}

Purse: Marc Jacobs but not {Fashionjunkee.com}

~~~~~~~
Look #2:
{I’m instructing Taylor to please move his sword (a.k.a. broom) out of my shot.}
Paired with a gray tights (circa 1992…seriously, I’ve had them that long!), gray skirt, and tall flat gray boots.
Skirt: tag says, Janette {thrifted}
Tights: {Gap}
Boots: Mossimo, {Target}
Purse: mark {mark.com}
~~~~~~~
I’m loving red next to gray….it’s just makes the whole look appear soft and sweet.
Instead of bold and bolder.
Ya?
Also, rule of thumb with tights? Match them to your shoes.
So, I hope this helps with the holiday what to wears….I’ll try to come up with some more ideas for this month since it’s not just the holiday season of my birthday but a few others as well. =)
Happy Freaking Monday!
P.S. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who left sweet comments yesterday about my hair. You totally made me feel better and more confident, and today I’m completely secure and happy and way way loving them.

i love them, i love them not….

I did it.
I got the bangs.
And when I left the salon, I felt sassy and sexy, and all was right with the hair world of moi.
But then I started taking self pictures in the car to show them off via text, and quite quickly all was not right in the hair world of moi.
So, I love them in person, not so much in pictures. Ugh.
I’m sure it’s just going to take some time getting used to them. I’m always this way when I do something new with my hair.
Also, I think they seem a little longer on one side, so I may get them trimmed just a tad shorter….we’ll see. I’m giving it the three day rule.
You may wait three days to call a guy/girl….I wait three days to call my hair girl.
Same diff.
So, at long last….wa la:
P.S. Be gentle with the opinions. I’m not feeling so cute. =) Kay thanks.
