apples, beer, and plums

My sister came home the other day to find my niece had prepared her a little after school snack. She was so excited because it was all of my sisters “favorite foods.”
Photobucket
Apples, and Peanut Butter….and a Beer.
What other kind of snack could you possibly want at 2 in the afternoon?
She also likes to set up her lemonade stand after school and rather than sell lemonade, she gives away the plums from her tree.
Photobucket
Just thought I would share the sweetness that is my family.

I had THE BEST Wednesday ever this week at my thrift store (MTS).
I was so trying to exercise self control by skipping this week, but when my girlfriend Bethany called me on a shopping high telling me of all her great deals, and then shared the fact that rather than half price day, it’s was $1 day on all the clothing, and then half price on everything else…I mean, how could I say no???
Breathe, breathe.
So, I threw self control out the window, threw my kids in the car, and headed out immediately to my happy place.
And OMW (oh my word), I just know I was meant to be there on this day because I found some amazing-ness. Like this entire outfit, sans the necklace, headband & tights.
Dress: Salt & Pepper. $1!!! {MTS} OMW, I am looooving the color, the detailing, the shape, the everything about this amazing dress. So stinkin cute.
Corduroy Blazer: Fcuk (French Connection) Jeans, $1!!! {MTS} Blazers are all the rage this year, and I can’t even begin to tell you the plethora of them that I found at MTS. You don’t have to spend a lot for trends, so hit up your thrift store today!!!
Tights: $4 {Charlotte Russe} As much as I love my boots, I think I may be loving the opaque tights just as much. And I honestly think that they look amazing on everyone. Yes, even YOU!
Shoes: Not Rated, $2.50 {MTS} These were a total steal. In fact, I just found them online here for $45! I can’t even believe they were exactly my size, brand spanking new, never been worn, and with the original price tags still attached.
I’m so obsessed with the mary jane look, and am still mourning the loss of the baby lou lou’s that wouldn’t fit…but these will do for now.
Headband: H&M. I’ve had this for years, and it has saved me from so many bad hair days, that I can’t even keep track! It even hides roots, which makes it even better.
Necklace: $10ish, maybe $20. Seen also on Monday’s post. {Target}
Sunnies: Steve Madden, $10. {TJ Maxx}
Your turn! Only link up if you have a fashion related blog/post. Other entries will be removed. =)

do you see what I see?

When I look into the mirror…
I see my past.
I remember where I came from…
And I realize I’m not that different from who I used to be.
Photobucket
I see a little girl who feels confident and secure…
Who knows she was made for a purpose…
And yet…
Is now humbly aware of insecurity and self doubt.
Photobucket
I see a little girl who loves to snuggle up with what gives her comfort and makes her safe…
Who loves a good book next to her bed…
And yet…
Is never too tired to pay attention to the camera.
Photobucket
I see a little girl who daydreams and hopes…
Who at times feels lost and alone…
And yet…
All the while wants to be held and loved and accepted for exactly who she is at any moment in time.
Photobucket
I see a little girl with pigtails and curls and grins and laughter…
Who clings to the ones she loves…
And yet….
Has experienced loss in more ways than could ever seem fair.
Photobucket
I see a little girl who isn’t afraid of the big and unknown…
Who proudly shows off her edge…
And yet….
Releases herself to be open and vulnerable in spite of the risk.
With all that I have seen…
With all that I have heard…
With all that has been done…
With all that I have been through…
I still see the little girl inside…
Her soul and spirit…
I cling to…
Because she is the best part of me.

love me or hate me…..

The other night when I was out with girls we got to talking about, well girls. And the complete drama we can bring when there is either no reason or something so silly that really, it can again, be considered no reason.
For some crazy weird reason, my bestest friends admitted that they didn’t much like me when they first met me.
I know, close your mouths, I was just as shocked as you all are right now.
I mean, look at me….I’m so lovable.
Photobucket
I don’t quite get the whole making a decision about a person before you really know them. But, I also know that us girls don’t always make sense. And sometimes we allow our emotions to dictate things that a lot of times we often regret. {For example, not liking me. You WILL regret that.}
Wait a second. I just remembered that Jimmy didn’t like me either when he first met me. Actually he didn’t like me before he met me. Huh, okay. So maybe it isn’t just a girl thing.
Here’s what I have to say about all of that.
I’m. So. Sure!!!
Get over yourself, and just love me from the beginning. It’s much easier on my emotions and feelings that way. Since, you know, I hate not being liked. And I love being loved.
I’m complicated that way. Don’t try to figure me out.
I think I’ve proven with this girl:
Photobucket
And this girl:

And this girl:

And especially with this guy:
Photobucket
that eventually I will win you over.
So love me or hate me, but eventually you all will love me.
Just wanted to let you know.
So start commenting, emailing, and overall loving me.
I’d hate for you to live with regrets.

diet secrets of the rich and famous

Okay, okay….so I embellished a little. Diet secrets really aren’t secrets at all, and the Rich and Famous?
Um, ya. HI! That would be me. Not so rich and well…not so famous either. Umm….yet anyway.
Still…I know some stuff. And being that I love you all ever so much, I just woudn’t feel right if I didn’t share all my wealth of knowledge
So, after I had Chloe I worked my BOOT-AY (and boobies) off (literally) by doing P90X, and I was a lean mean machine. You all know, I showed off those guns.
But then the summertime came, and with it a lot of food…mostly chocolate cake, pizza, thick red vines, s’mores, and lots of vacation eating. Little did I know, since I’d given up the scale and all, that 6.5 lovely pounds joined my body without my even knowing it.
Well, okay…I started to know it when my freaking pants felt a bit tight, and the muffin top was more than a muffin. {can you say Costco size?} And when that loveliness happened, I jumped on my scale so fast. It was a sad moment when I had to face the fact that I can’t, in fact, continue to eat the way I did as a teen. Or as a 20 something year old. Or as a person who hasn’t had 2 kids. Or as a person who isn’t on a certain medication that has a side effect of WEIGHT GAIN!
Haaaaay-loooo??? What was I thinking?
And so I had to get serious. I missed my clothes, and in trying to save for a house one day, I couldn’t very well go out and buy new ones. {ya right, like a budget has ever stopped me from shopping…}
SECRET ONE:
First things first…I went on this site that my old trainer gave me the thumbs up on. You enter all your stats, and then it calculates out your calories that you would need to maintain, lose, or gain. Easy peasy.
SECRET TWO:
And then I worked out. Hard. 6 days a week hard. I counted calories and I worked out.
That’s it people. It’s that simple. Calories in, calories out. Well, okay, it’s not THAT simple, because working out and counting calories totally sucks and I was ever so crabby, and I wanted to pig out and binge, and I wanted to skip the workouts for napping….and well, you know the drill. But, I’m stubborn. I hate failure, so I refused to fail. Plus, I have cute jeans. And I was really starting to miss them.
The workout I chose this time around was Physique 57 mixed in with a little of Tracy Andersons Cardio Dance. But you know, I honestly believe that ANY workout you do as long as it’s intense and it hurts and it challenges you, will work. Like I said, calories in…calories out. Other workouts I’ve heard amazing things about: Jackie Warners, P90X, 30 Day Shred, Zumba….basically find what you like, what will keep you interested, and just do it.
SECRET 3:
Food. I like to eat food. I like sweets and I like carbs. So….I found a few things that were low cal and worked them into my diet.
Photobucket
Sara Lee Delightful Whole Wheat bread {2 slices – only 80 calories!!!}
Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Hot Dogs {healthy and pure, and only 45 calories. Goes awesome on a bun with melted cheese on top. Low Fat American Sices. Yum, 210 calories total!}
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches {EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. 140 calories}
Quinoa cooked with Vegetable broth mixed with grilled chicken breast. {TO DIE FOR. Only 400ish calories!)
Fiber One Bars. {Delish. Breakfast of champions in my home. 140 calories, lots of fiber}
Yoplait Light {Pineapple and Apple are da bomb. 100 calories}
100 Calorie Pack of Kettle Korn {sweet and salty and lovely}
Uncle Ben’s Instant Rice {Another fave with grilled chicken breast 400ish calories}
SECRET 4:
Oh ya, and last thing. I stop eating at 7pm. Because a real rich and famous person, Gwyneth Paltrow, mentioned here that you should allow 12 hours for your body to digest. Not sure if it works, but whatev.
And there you go. My diet secrets. Not so secret anymore.
Aren’t you feeling lucky? Because one day when I am famous, and I’m selling these secrets for millions, just think, you got them for FREE!
I love you that much.
Have secrets of your own? Yummy low cal food ideas??? Do you love us enough to share??? Comment away my loves!

{Yes, the dress/tunic with pants is my fall uniform. Get used to it!}
Whew, I am completely exhausted from the weekend…and um, I didn’t really do much. My boys had a weekend filled with football games and air shows, so I got to hang with my girl Chloe and have her all to myself.
I never ever get sick of that girl. Not to diss my BFF’s out there, but a daughter as cute and as sweet as her….there just is no competition.
Saturday night I forced myself to stay up late and enjoy the silence of my home thinking that I would take advantage of Jimmy (not in the bonk chicka bow wow way, this time anyway) in the morning and sleep in. And then I woke up at 5:00am wide awake thinking of chocolate cake.
I kid you not. And I never went back to sleep. Obsessed maybe?
I am so ready for this diet to be over. {Put on some summer poundage, not so fun.}
Jacket: J&Co, $20, TJ Maxx. Vintage in terms of how long I’ve owned it. And yet, I still love with all my heart.
Pants: Limited, $3 Yes, $3!!! I bought these amazingly yummy pants at my thrift store (MTS) on their half price day, and I was immediately in love. I’ve never in my life owned a pair of white pants, but I knew this was the pair to take my white pants virginity.
When I bought them a few weeks ago they were already a little big on me, but I didn’t even care. I needed them and they needed me. I finally went and picked them up from the cleaners this weekend and when I put them on this morning they were even bigger, which means the whole no chocolate cake thing is working. {I’ll celebrate tonight with chocolate cake!} But also means I have to wear them with tunics from now on. Tha’s okay, the pants and I are deep in love, so I’ll fold the top over and go on my way. And, yes, I did wear white after Labor Day. Rules are meant to be broken girls.
Dress/Tunic: J. D’Alessio, $3 Again a little treasure from MTS. Way to short to wear without pants, but super cute with.
Shoes: My Mias, $40, from Endless.com
Necklace: $10, Target. Kinda chunky, kinda funky. Love.
Bangles: $5, Walmart. So, I shop at Walmart….so what?
Nail Polish: Sally Hansen Xtreme Nails in Blue It. Also got an awesome slate gray color that is fab.
Happy Monday! I’m thinking I may start and end my weeks from now on with outfit posts. Because fashion makes me happy. And it’s all about me. And I like being happy.
Muah!

Omg (oh my gosh!) you guys, I didn’t realize this would happen, but I so completely missed my blog and each and every one of you. I think a break was good though because it definitely made me appreciate what I have here….and now I value it and YOU even more. As if that was even possible!
While I was away, I was a busy girl. I spent some much needed time with friends and family, cultivated new friendships, exchanged digits (an engagement of sorts, she checked helllll to the yessss), worked out, ruptured my ear drum (Owza!), thrift shopped, danced, read a TON of blogs, experienced a bit of PMS, and planned a trip to Vegas!
So anyway, it’s such an amazing feeling to be back. And what better than to kick it off with some Fashion Friday!
Ya, so I went country dancing the other night for a girls night out. I love this place. But, MY WORD, there were some major fashion no no’s, and yet in a place like that…it just works. I had to seriously refrain from taking some pictures of the disasters I saw, and actually at one point I had my camera up when one of my girls grabbed it and shook her head.
Busted.
In my defense, it was for you. I was doing it for you!
I can’t much explain where I got each one of these pieces since I’ve had them forever, but I do know for sure that the top was from Marshalls. I also know that the entire ensemble was less than $50. You should know I roll like that by now.
Btw, another HUGE-mungo thanks to the sweetest girls ever for hooking me up this week. While you only got to meet 4, there are many many other fab bloggers that I wished could have also guest posted. I feel bad that I couldn’t have had them all. I’ll have to think of more ways to introduce you.
Until then my dears….

{Dogs wearing costumes…}

{Celebrities before they were famous….a la Ryan Seacrest…hunka hunka}

{Comfy beds that make you want to nestle in the covers all day…yes please!}

{And of course…a fierce pair of Louboutin’s to make a girl’s day…}

Hope this helps carry all of you til Friday!! Have a fantastic Thursday! I’m headed back to my neck of the woods….peace.
