there’s a fitness app for that!

Before I go into the great app info….let me share my confession…
After 7 months of ignoring my scale and having NO idea what I weigh, yesterday I finally broke the fast.
And here’s why.
On Friday, after a great week of workouts and eating pretty well, I was feeling mighty fit.
So fit in fact, that I thought, ahhhh today is the day my “skinny day” jeans will fit….and ever so enthusiastically I pulled those babies out and worked my way in.
And when I say worked, I mean, I. had. to. WORK.
And sweat.
And pull.
And work some more.
And suck in.
And pull a little tighter….
until I let out a breath and gave up.
Fit I was not.
{although pat on my back for being so accepting of the body i thought was fit!}
Did I just write “fit” too much?
I think I did.

Anyway.

So, I decided it was time.
Time to get accountable and get back on track.
I have to say though, I was ready.
I fully believe that I have overcome those issues, and that the 7 month fast was JUST what God called me to do in order to find healing.
And when I stepped on the scale yesterday morning, and saw a number that was not “ideal,” I didn’t even bat an eye.
There were no tears.
There was no sadness.
There was just an, “ahhhh, okay….so this is where I am….time to make a few little changes.”
Okay, to you, that may sound like your every weigh in.
To me???
That has NEVER happened to me before….I have never walked away from a scale date without emotions.
But, today, I did.
My day went on happily….and other than my workout time, I didn’t really give my body much thought.
It is FREEING.
God has been so faithful….and I am incredibly grateful that I can now move on to my next issue that needs attending to.
ha!
Anyway, the REASON I needed that number was because of this AMAZING fitness app that my friend Bethany turned me onto.
myfitnesspal
My Fitness Pal.
{it’s also a website!}
And seriously, it’s the best ever.
You put in your stats, and it tells you how many calories you need a day to reach your goal.
Then as you enter your food, (they have EVERYTHING!  even fast food & restaurants!), it lets you know how many calories you have left for the day.
AND….
you can enter your workouts and it then factors in those calories used into the additional calories you need to eat.

It’s really quite brilliant.
THEN at the end of the day, when you complete your entries, it tells you something along the lines of…
“if every day were like today, in 5 weeks you will weigh ____”
iphone-app-myfitnesspal
Genius.
It’s absolutely the most user friendly fitness app I’ve come across, and I am quite hooked.
I’m kind of geeking out about it, I know.
An entire post dedicated to talking about it, and it’s not even a sponsored post
…and the dang app got me to weigh myself after 7 months, so you know it’s gotta be good!
Oh, AND!
Did I mention that it breaks down the nutrition at the end of the day as well???
Telling you how much you got of what, and if you’re over or under certain things like fat and sugar?
Freaking fabulous.
I just love that there is an app for that.

  1. I. Love. This. App!

I’ve been using it since the summer and it is definitely a great help! I lost about 18-20lbs since I started! I’ve been pretty lax with it lately, but I’ve been trying to get back on track. My name on there is JLee416 – we can cheer each other on 🙂 Good luck!

  2. I absolutely love this app as well!
I’ve been using it for a month now. I’ve always struggled with my weight and NEED to lose a lot more for my health.
I love that it keeps everything tracked so I know what I need to do to reach my goal.
Good luck with staying on track and wonderful for you acknowledging and pushing forward!

  3. I’m definitely going to check this out! After having a couple year long love/hate relationship with meat I finally decided to make it official and became a vegetarian/semi-vegan 3 weeks ago. I’ve been letting my body “detox” from years of meat eating and didn’t want to shock it by jumping into a heavy fitness regimen just yet. This week I’m starting back up with Yoga and working my way back into TAM.

You have been doing so great Summer and everything you have done has been an inspiration! You’ll get back to where you want to be soon enough <3

  4. It’s my obsession, this app. LOVE it and have it open on my computer always.

I always look forward to completing a day and seeing based on that where I’ll be in 5 weeks…now if I could just bring myself to track my weekends.

I am getting a HRM for Mother’s Day and am anxious to get an exact read on what I’m burning with my TAM workouts.

  5. first of all…I’m so proud of you! Congratulations on walking away from that scale with no negative emotions. you’ve come a long way baby 🙂

secondly, I am going to check out this app! I’m not a calorie counter per se` but I do need to keep track of WHAT I eat and the nutritional breakdown aspects are appealing.

    thanks babe!

  6. Great App. Good Ole Bethany! Thx Summer.

P.S. – Have you tried the new Metamorphosis by Tracy Anderson? There is a mom at our pool that has the most killer body – this is her secret weapon. She just eats heathly, doesn’t follow the diet strictly. Debating on purchasing after I finish the 30 day method (workout, not complete diet)

  7. 1. GOOD FOR YOU! You are braver than me, as I am too scared to go near a scale for fear of how badly I will beat myself up and obsess about it. But you are an inspiration.

    2. I’m getting that app right now. Thanks to you!

  8. Karlee, I LOVE the metamorphosis. I bought the omni (although i wish i had the abcentric) and I do it 5 days a week. It’s the perfect time frame…only an hour a day which is SO much more manageable for me. You will LOVE IT!

  9. i have this app but i never used it, i’m upgrading my version & then i’m going to put in my calories for the day.. somehow i dont think 10 wings from buffalo wild wings is going to be a pretty number. whoops! xox

  10. I agree, 1 hour is more manageable. I’ve been all about Jillian Michaels and the workout I’m doing is 1 hour but I want a leaner look. The “pool mom with the killer body” (I need to learn her name) started with Jillian Michaels and is all about Tracy Anderson now. Thanks for the feedback, I’m on it!

  11. Tracy’s stuff will totally keep you toned and lean. Which one do you think you will get?

  12. Glutecentric – it’s my problem area

  13. or what do you recommend? My bum is what I no likey…but it’s a toss between glutecentric and abcentric. Thoughts?

  14. This was totally the first app I downloaded when I got my new phone. It is AMAZING with keeping me on track! It has helped me to lose 10 pounds over the past month. Yay!

So glad that you are finally able to weigh yourself, def inspiring to just do what you can and accept the rest! I am starting to get to that point too, even though I do weigh myself every day (but who’s counting), but I no longer let it ruin my day if it’s not the right number.

  15. Ok, I took your recommendation and started using this and I LOVE IT (although being brutally honest is difficult)! Love it, love it, love it. Solid recommendation.
