iStress, the great lamp crisis of 2011

As I’ve shared, my goal is to have our master bedroom done and complete by the end of the month…and yet it’s the details I’m getting lost and caught up in.

Do I want green as my accent or yellow?
I thought green, but with such a dark paint color as Trout Gray, maybe I then need a bright yellow instead?
No?
Stick with green?
And what about curtains?
Do I go with pattern or print?
Ruffles or not?
green, yellow, pattern, print, ruffles…
And this is ONLY the beginning~
Because then there’s this whole Summers Lamp Crisis of 2011, or better yet, Summerlocks and the Three Lamps.
Except I only have two…but give me a day!
It started with these but I thought, eh too small…too plain.

And then I found these for a steal, but now I wonder, too big…too funky?

And while I love big & funky (NOT what she said!), I then have the whole Lamp Shade debacle!
Which is, I need to find one, preferably rectangle that is longer than 9 inches.
(okay, SHE said on that one for sure!  orrrrrr, maybe not.)
The one I have now, the large size from Target, is just not cutting it.
Much too small a top for such a big bottom.
{kind of how I feel about my boob to butt ratio, but that’s WAY off topic.}
I mean, do they even MAKE lamp shades bigger than large?
But then, even if I find a perfect lamp shade, I have to revisit my original concern of Too Big/Too Funky?
Will it bother me that the base is lit-RALLY as wide as the nightstand?
And then look at my little tray!

{gotta love the iphone picture quality…but i have bigger issues at the moment than capturing quality shots!}
See?
How small does it look next to that lamp?
That’s an issue, yes?
Aye Aye Aye.
I may lose sleep you guys.

In fact, my sister (heather) and I have been texting back and forth, and now my problem is her problem, and we’re both considering a drink to calm ourselves down.

Whatever will I do?
And by “I” I mean “we” because now you are involved in this issue and I expect that you will have the words of wisdom that will bring resolution.

Go ahead…comment away!
My sanity depends on it.

{this would be the time my “critics” on that one site should speak and offer advice rather than talk behind my back.  a girl needs her gays!}

  1. I’m terribly amused by the “boob to butt ratio” thing. HA! And I support having a drink to get through this miniature crisis.

  2. I think the green lamp is too big. I thought green was fine until you said yellow. Now, I’m like… OOH, YELLOW!

  3. My absolute fave color combo in decorating is gray and yellow, so that’s my choice. And I like lamp #1 myself – fits better.
    Hope you can make a decision! And definitely deserves a drink! 🙂

  4. I agree the green lamp is too big. Could you look for one in between those 2 sizes at a garage sale or thrift store and spray paint it green or yellow?

  5. You crack me up! I too thought the boob to but ratio thing was very funny! Whatever you decide on will look great. I think the bigger lamp would be a big reach while reading in bed.

  6. Summer you are too funny with the boob to butt ratio thing! I looks like a long stretch to reach to turn the light off if you are reading in bed. I think the smaller one might be better. Both yellow and green are great though

  7. i think the gray yellow combo is overdone. green is more unique 🙂

    the lamps are too big. too bad cause they are cute.

    your original laps were good too 🙂
    maybe some smaller ones with lucite bases?

  8. I love the silver lamps, but I’d hot glue a little lace or fringe on the bottom ridge and then a band of ribbon (black?) at the top.

    The amazing thing about the gray walls is you can choose pretty much any accent color. I think a marigold would be gorgeous and cheery. The beauty is that you can change it up really easy, no need to repaint 🙂
