a permanent reminder (a.k.a. a new tattoo)

It’s crazy how things come along in your life at just the right time.  In the midst of hard times, you learn a lesson and it’s one you KNOW you needed to hear….read….notice….
However it comes to you, you just KNOW the timing is most definitely a God thing.
My 30’s so far have kinda been like that.  Lots of lessons and lots and lots of testing of those lessons.
If you read this post, then you know my biggest struggle of all these days is learning to remove my plans, thoughts, and selfish feelings….and allow God’s to come through instead.

Not only has it shown up in the foster sitch, but in personal friendships and relationships as well.
I have all these “justified” feelings…
so I constantly gotta check myself,
before I wreck myself.
{pretty sure they got that from Jesus.}

Sometimes I think people spend too much time battling the lines of christianity.
Styles of worship, pre or post tribulation, casual or dressy Sundays, big stuff, small stuff….
it all fuels the debate.
My opinion?
If they believe Jesus is the Son of God, and have asked Him into their lives,
and they spend their life:
1) Loving God.
and…
2) Loving others….with God’s perfect Love….
then you’re a’gonna see ’em all in Heaven.
Tangent?
Eh, kinda.
That all said, it’s my lesson, it’s my struggle, and it’s my life’s purpose to make each day a day filled with setting aside me.
Hence, my permanent reminder:

{Agape = God’s Love….on my left arm, along the “love vein,” in line with my wedding finger, proving my commitment.  As though a PERMANENT tattoo isn’t commitment enough!}
One of my best friends has been on a similar path, and so we joined forces…
and because our lives and paths are different,
so are the tattoos.

I love it.  It’s meaning is priceless…
Actually what’s even more priceless is the legacy it leaves behind.
Taylor now has what it means memorized, and sometimes out of the blue he’ll just remind me:
“Mom, it’s just about Agape.  We just have to keep loving others with God’s Love, even when we don’t feel like it.”
Amen, Taylor, Amen.

  1. beautiful. I have a Jesus Freak tattoo. All the ins and outs and this way or that way of “Christianity”…it’s all about Jesus. AGAPE Rules!! xoxoxo

  2. I want to know how to pronouce it, and I LOVE it and the meaning behind it

  3. Love that you got the word Agapi on your arm as a permanent reminder… agapi, in Greek, also means LOVE. How beautiful, huh? 🙂 Haven’t talked to you in forever, by the way… hello! xo

  4. Beautiful!

  5. Very pretty tattoo!

I am struggling with my faith every day, and at times, church makes me feel uncomfortable and it feels like I only go because it’s the “right” thing to do.

So, I have to ask, what was more painful: the wrist or the back? My two wrist tattoos have been, by far, my most painful, and I just got one on my neck the past May.

  6. i barely comment but i admire you, doll.

man our 30s have been tough, haven’t they?

  7. This is just so beautiful!

  8. It’s beautiful.

  12. Well, I just love it and love that post, good for you! It’s beautiful.

  13. Love this! I’m seriously NOT a tattoo person, but I LOVE it! When I read this “agape” i knew what it meant right away. (I speak greek).
I must say it at least 10 times a day to my kids….”agape mou” or “my love”
    What a meaningful tattoo!

  14. Incredible! Seriously! You know how I feel about wrist tattoos, and I’m a big fan of those post-it note reminders to ourselves as well… this is just beautiful!

  15. Summer you are such an inspiring and beautiful woman. I think your tatoo is awesome. I have one with my sons birth sign, name a cross and what looks like angel wings as a personal reminder of where I’ve been, where I’ve come too and who I am. And it has been hard at times, sometimes very hard not only for me but those around me, but we are here and we can make this world a better place one prayer at a time 🙂

    Take care angel Kate xx

  19. I love the meaning behind your tattoo! And I completely agree-people spend far too much time caught up in the little things instead of the important stuff when it comes to religion.

  20. I just love the meaning behind your tattoo. I wish I could say that mine had some. Hope you are well lady!

  21. I really love the new tat-what a great place to put love…I am greek and recognized the lettering right away. I commend you for being so serious about your relationship with God and always challenging your soul to keep the right path. I have a hard time just getting through my workday…your passion inspires me to work on my relationship with God along with whatever life stress is occuring. Thanks:)
