fashion friday

For Fashion Friday, I’m going to tell you a little story about a birthday gift I got.
From Jimmy.
Kind of.
So, last week I went to a women’s gala/fundraiser, and this is how I showed up:

Tunic: Vintage Saks {thrifted}
Might I tell you, I think I was the only one at this gala wearing something thrifted?
And some woman actually told me she could tell I had expensive taste. Ha!
Jacket: {thrifted a million years ago}
Necklace: supa old
Bracelets: {Walmart & Twisted Silver}
Tights: Kirkland? {Costco, and still the best tights ever!}
Shoes: My baby Lou Lou’s {Neiman Marcus}
These may be why she thought I had expensive taste. Little did she know I had to birth two babies to get them (for Mothers Day), and even then we didn’t eat for a month or so to make up for it.
Kidding.
Ish.
But, while I was there I fell
madly
deeply
head over heels
in love
with the most fabulous jacket.
{very Marc Jacobs, dontcha think?}
But, it was a little out of my comfortable spending range, so I sat and thought about it while enjoying a glass of wine.
{ponder, ponder, ponder}
And then I finally decided, that if I left without it, I would forever (and I’m not being dramatic) and ever regret it. So, I texted Jimmy, told him I was getting a birthday present from him for me, and then ran as fast as I could to get my baby.
And this is how I left:
{Those sleeves!!! Could you DIE?}
{Grrrr to the blur}
And because I need you to appreciate this incredible piece of fashion as I do, here are some close ups:
And so concludes my story for Fashion Friday.

  1. You mean I have to squeeze out another one before I can get my Loubs? Sigh. Loooooooove your fabulous coat score!

  2. love the tunic and love the shoes! and that coat…pretty! what a thoughtful hub you’ve got here…
    xxx

  3. SOOOOOO cute. and i will tell you… you totally did the right thing. i learned that lesson this week, as i had spotted a pair of chocolate suede flats at DSW last week that i loved. i decided to think about it and by the time i went back yesterday, they were out of my size. and i was sad. i still am, actually.

  4. Oh my goodness, that jacket is beautiful….I think I would have done the same thing. My boyfriend doesn’t understand my obsession with beautiful coats. Most of mine are vintage, one has a fox collar and the other two have the shorter sleeves and came with the elbow length old leather gloves….sigh, they are the only reason I love winter!

    I’ll have to do a post on them sometime soon!

  5. your so dang cute.

    love the jacketttttt…. love the shoes!

  6. oh it’s beautiful!

    I love it!

  7. YES. I could DEF. die over those sleeves. And the LINING. But you had me at the shoes. No words.

  8. The jacket is beautiful, but I love the shoes!

  9. I could die for that hot pink lining. Sigh. I would have fought you for it.

  10. That jacket is to die for! I don’t blame you for not being able to pass it up!

    AND you will probably have it FOR-EVA so it’s really like an investment. You know?

  11. That’s the best way to end up with a present you know you’re gonna love! Great jacket and your pics are so cute!

  12. those shoes? i die

    love the new jacket.

  13. Love the coat, love the shoes, love the tunic! You look great! Why oh why don’t I have a fashionable bone in my body?! I really need a stylist.

  14. Love it!

  15. Ohmigosh…is it actually green? Because it looks green in the last two shots? The buttons are actually what I’m kind of dying over..but the whole thing is smashing!

    You make everything look like a million bucks Summer!

    God bless!

  16. oh my, what a gorgeous coat! love the sleeves and button detail. i think you need to do a post about thrifting, like, a thrifting 101 class. i have been to my stores and the selections stink. i think it depends on where you live and what the folks wear. obviously, around here it’s moomoos and sweatsuits. have a great time with Jimmy in L.A. take care.

  17. So glad you splurged from Jimmy! Well worth it and coats last FOREVER!

  18. Haha, I loooovvvve it. &I stand by my thought on the tights and loubies… it looks totally fab.

    & Gasp! We had a fight?! That’s how you know it’s a dream! Psh. love ya lady

  19. Fab shoes and love the jacket and the tunic! Happy weekend 🙂

  20. Oh, my. YES you needed it! YES you would have regretted it absolutely forever. And the brand says “stiletto!!!” How COOL is that? I love the detailing of the fabric, of the buttons, of everything. Love it. AND, I love the liner. Because a cool liner just makes a great jacket that much more amazing. =^)

  21. That coat is super cute! It’s a good thing you got it!

  22. You are the most FABULOUS blogger on my blog roll! 🙂

    You looked ah-maz-ing!

  23. Girl, you look BEAYOOOOTIFUL! How fun it must have been to get all dressed up and go to a women’s gala. Gala…just sounds so fancy. 🙂 That jacket is fabulous – I think the buttons are one of my favorite features.

  24. I’ll admit, I didn’t fully appreciate your find until the close-ups, so thank you for those! I love the texture and the detail on the buttons! So cute! Congrats on a wonderful birthday present!
