fashion friday

So I’m feeling all kinds of nervous and stuff today.
First of all, I am guest posting over at Lacey’s blog, Lacey in Love. {Go check it out!!!}
And while I’m not Catholic or anything, I figured my soul needed purging and it was time to make some confessions.
So ya, that’s always scary.
And then….I made another video to share…and while this may come as a surprise to you, I get embarrassed to share them.
I know, shocker huh?
Hey, I may seem perfect…but believe it or not, I’m human too. And I’m definitely not a big fan of being judged.
So before you watch it, let me judge myself so you don’t have to.
Yes, I know my fingernail polish is chipped. Whatever. I have children. A husband. A job. And doggone it, a blog to attend to. Nails these days have to come last.
And yes, I realize my skin is blotchy without makeup.
{Still can’t believe I bared my face. Ugh. Sorry guys.}
And I’m not at my cutest today. Feeling quite unattractive actually.
And my hair is dirty…and it hasn’t been flat ironed or combed…which is why I’m wearing the headband.
And the background shows that the reason my nails are chipped is certainly not because I’ve been tending to cleaning my home….
and…
well, you get the picture.
I actually wanted to redo the video, but the thought of flat ironing my hair, changing my clothes, and washing off the makeup I had just put on made me want to take a nap.
So, without further adieu….here is your Makeup Lesson 101.
{101 because I’m not capable of 102.}

  1. Love the twist on FF! Great tutorial. Oh, and I loved your post at Lacey’s!

  2. Loooveeed it. I was actually just thinking about a makeup post today, we were just so on the same page(hello, always). I need to look into that Mac foundation/powder. I used to use a Merle Norman product like that, but it just started feeling too heavy on my skin. (I kind of became addicted to tinted moisturizer, so everything felt heavy after that!) So tell me, how’s the weight on this stuff?

    Thanks again for the LOVELY post on my little bloggy! It’s actually inspired me to do a follow up on it, so stay tuned for that baby!

  3. Adorable as always (: Great tutorial! Have a GREAT weekend!

  4. Oh I love the makeup lesson and seeing your list of products! Great post! Have a great weekend XOXO

  5. i can’t wait to watch that video sometimes next week!
    and if it makes you feel better, my nails need some TLC and i don’t even have a hub or kids!!

  6. Love that mascara! I use it everyday. My g-ma gave it to me, which made me laugh until I tried it and realized she was a GENIUS. Great post at Lacey’s too 😉

  7. you are so cute!!! Love the post!!! I have that mascara & I am not really a big fan, it makes my eyelashes look too much!!!

  8. Oh my gosh. How cute are you!! Loved it.

  9. Loved the vlog of make up! I need to learn how to apply eyeshadow. I suck at it.

  10. Summer-

    You are the best!!! Thank You sooooooo much for doing a make-up tutorial!! You looked fabulous -so I don’t know what mirror you were looking in saying your hair/face didn’t look good. I would jump for joy if my face was that clear w/out make-up in the am. I wrote down to try Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Half Baked & Avon blush. I have studio fix which I love- Hope you have a spooky Halloween and a fabulous weekend!

    Thxs again for posting that video- you get A++

    I will post your video on my blog today-

  11. Thanks for the make-up lesson … you looked sooo adorable and I definitely LOVED it!!!

    I used MAC too but I can’t stand the pads it comes with so I use it with my bare minerals brush instead … gotta try that mascara … it looks awesome!

  12. Thank you for doing that! I love watching your videos and reading your blog and I am not very girly and I have tried to be but Im bad at putting makeup on so this really helps!

  13. That was pretty cool! I’m so glad you didn’t rip your eyelashes out with that curler! (I have a bad habit of doing that to some degree.) lol. Great transformation…but you look pretty good without makeup, so….

  14. Okay, so I for one am thankful that your house isn’t perfect and I can hear your kiddo and your nail polish is chipped. Why? Because that means that real women with real lives and real stuff clamoring for their attention can really be beautiful and fashionable!!! That’s what this is all about, yes? You blogging. Me blogging. It’s the balance (or un-balance) or being a woman. And you do it wonderfully.

    AND… for the record… everything looks wonderful. Isn’t chipped nail polish in right now? That rough, biker-ish, avant-garde, a bit of a distressed soul thing? You rock it well.

    (We were the same number in Mac, I think. How cool is that?)

    We’re changing the world and making it a more perfect place… one imperfect blog post at a time. Thanks for being you.

    (Is this too long of a comment? Me thinks this is too long of a comment.)

  15. umm lady, i just fell in love with your blog! and seriously? let’s not have any judging here. you look absolutely beautiful without make up.

    next order of business, i LOVE urban decay. probably my favorite brand. and half baked is used almost on a daily basis for me. loooove it.

  21. Aw, girl – this makes me miss you! 🙂 First of all, you must shush about your pre-makeup face because it looks absolutely beauuutimous! And you make makeup look so easy and simple! I love the name Sexy Motherpucker. That’s awesome. And, your singing was delightful. Love you, girl! And loved your sweet movie editing skills. Very fun.

  22. I adore you! I love the focus when for almost 30 sec straight in the background you here the same “mom, mom, mom, mom! Sounds like me! Love the way you get it done girl!

  23. You are beautiful with or without make-up darling and you are way too hard on yourself. We are always our worst critics!

  24. You’re making me want to go out and buy new mascara… hmm…

  25. You are super cute, love the vlog. You have really great skin, even without makeup. Jealous!
