the hills, the bachelorette, and jon & kate therapy

While yes, prayers and love did help to make me feel better….I must confess, there was something else.
Reality TV.
Ahhh, the therapy of a good reality show.
My thoughts…
The Hills:
I want to sit down with Heidi. She needs to know that her hair is not good. It’s not good at all. And since nobody else wants to say it, I will. And while I’m at it, I’ll tell her that she can take it easy on the lip gloss too. It is never a good look to appear as though your nose has run all over your lips.
Yes Heidi, but it hurts me more than you…
And I know this has already been all the talk, but seriously, what is up with Lauren’s upper lip stache? Is this a new trend I’m not aware of, like the bushy eyebrows that are trying to make a come back as well?
Also, has anyone noticed that most of the show now takes place in either a restaurant or a shopping place? I may be slow on the uptake, but is it possible that this show could be staged?
Lets talk The Bachelorette:
Forgive me, because I’m not good with names, but let’s review who is left. We have Foot Fetish Guy, Country Singer Guy, Angry Bug Eyed Guy, Laid Back Cali Guy, Rico Suave Guy, and then all the rest of them. Boy, they really stand out this season.
Jillian kinda bugs me now too. She talks waaaay too much about how “fun” and “spontaneous” she is. I mean come on, enough talk about it. If you have to mention it every ten minutes, then who are you really trying to convince?
Nope, you’re not fooling me.  Your one step away from the happy pills my dear…
I’m not hooked yet, but I’ll keep watching. Because watching guys wear speedo’s and jump in the pool naked and everything else that makes them look psycho is always good time.
Lastly, I need to address the whole Jon & Kate thing.
I have to say, I only watched the show for half a season when it first started. I had to quit because honestly, watching their life filled me with anxiety. I found myself turning down the tv every few minutes in an effort to make them be quiet, until finally I got to the point that the show had no volume.
Quick, smile, pretend we love each other…I. Can. Force. It!
Anyway, not to toot my own horn, but I called them on their marriage a couple of years ago, long before bodyguards and college babes. I have a sense about these things. Or at least I can pick up on the fact that men do not like to be humiliated in front of their kids, their neighbors, their family, the Walmart public…and especially not in front of the whole nation watching their reality show. I also know that women really want a man to man up and help out, not act like a helpless kid when there are 8 others doing that job just fine.
So ya, I knew this was coming. I really should be a marriage psychic.
And really, all this marriage talk brings us full circle back to The Hills. And Heidi and Spencer. Will they last? My psychic mind says, um no.
So you see, with all the time I spent dissecting and analyzing everybody else’s life and problems, my issues kinda faded away.
And that’s why I love Reality TV.
The end.
P.S. I’m going to watch Tori & Dean. Now there’s a couple that will last forever. =)
P.P.S.  In case you want to follow me, and I don’t see why you wouldn’t, I moved that gadget to the bottom of my page.  There, now you can sleep better.

  4. I love Tori and Dean too. I want my husband and I to be their best couple friends. They seem like a blast. I wasn’t aware of the upper lip thing trend. Sounds hideous ugh!

  7. I’m so happy that reality TV made you happy. I was wondering how you were doing after your two posts. It does the same for me. I get lost in the drama and forget my own. Speidi frightens me and I fear for the future of TV. I’m afraid MTV is going to give them their own Newlyweds show. Jon & Kate is a show I have watched since the beginning. Because I have dedicated myself to the show, I am now too involved in their mess and it is breaking my heart to think about the children. Jon & Kate have brought it upon themselves, but the kids are innocent. My hubby is all worked up b/c he said seasons ago that their marriage was over and that they probably had a marriage contract. Jon could do want he wanted as long as he was on camera. I guess his intuition was right. I knew they were having problems, but I assumed they would work it out for the kids instead of being selfish. Tori and Dean and the Houswives of Jersey were awesome last night. I love Tori. Sorry my comment is so long. Take care.

  8. I cant stand to watch Jillian so I’m skipping this season. She sounds like she is whining or getting ready to cry all the time.

Jon and Kate- I almost cried. I’m a big softie.

  9. I love Tori and Dean! I watched the bachelor last season and Jillian always kinda got on my nerves. I agree, someone who has to constantly remind everyone that she’s fun probably isn’t all that fun to begin with 🙂

keep watching reality tv so you can give us your thoughts!

  10. I called it too for jon and kate!!!!! and heidi and spencer- arghhhhh- they make me CRAZY!!!!

  11. LOL, reality TV really does have a way of making us feel better, doesn’t it? Of course, sometimes I feel like all they’d have to do was put a camera in front of my face and I’d be right there too!

Glad you’re feeling a bit better. LOL here over the no volume on Jon & Kate! I never watched it but imagine I might have the same reaction!

  12. I had DVR’d Jon and Kate and watched it last night. It was painfully uncomfortable and I was watching in my pj’s on my couch! I love how they both seem so at a loss for what to do. Here’s an idea for ya. Turn the camera OFF and focus on your marraige and family. Not saying she deserved to be {allegedly} cheated on, but she is soooo mean to him all the time. It is just sad.

  13. I’m already following you, darling – now you have to follow me! 😉

Great post… I feel sorry for Heidi. She has the world’s most fake life. Once the cameras stop rolling and she’s not in US Weekly anymore, she’s going be one seriously depressed and lost girl. I’m worried for her already – and of course her marriage will NOT last. I bet she’ll do a show with MTV Jessica and Nick style and that will be what will break them up for good.
Speaking of breaking up – Jon and Kate… I’m sad that they’re so broken right now. I sort of blame her, her controlling ways and the fact that her ego has gotten huge. I was looking at a picture of her the other day only I totally thought it was Victoria Beckham. Like, Kate needs to calm down! I hope they figure things out, for their kids sake.

  14. I watched the Jon and Kate episode, too. I have a sometimes irritating ability to see things from both perspectives and I feel sorry for both of them. Having five kids myself (which really is not comparable to sextuplits, I know) but as the Mom I tend to be in “IN CHARGE” mode constantly just to keep things running smooth and in control. Kate admits she is a control freak and unfortunately that leeked into other aspects of her life instead of simply using it to manage rearing all those kids. But Jon should have defined the relationship a long time ago and not allowed her to control him, too. I think marriages thrive on respect and it was clear that theirs lacked in that department. Obviously she is still pissed and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to work out. Sad, sad. There’s my two cents.

  15. yep the hills is staged to a point, they’ve had interviews about it…but it was still entertaining. i can’t say i will watch it anymore…i’m not too fond of any of the characters and they are bringing in Kristen Cavalarri to up the drama and I just can’t stand the catty Laguna Beach junk. sad to say i will no longer be a reality tv watcher.

i guess you gotta move on sometime

  16. your blog is hilarious…you and i share some similar thoughts!

  17. Ok, I don’t watch The Hills or Jon & Kate…but, I DO watch The Bachelorette…and can I just say….JAKE FROM DALLAS….GET KICKED OFF THE SHOW SO YOU CAN COME HOME TO ME AND MARRY MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Oh. My. Gosh! He is such a cutie!!! AND, he lives in my neighborhood…yep….I’m thinkin’ I may sign up to be the next Bachelorette….why not, right??

  18. I’ve never watched any of these reality tv shows. But I get many a synopsis of them by reading blog posts like yours.

I’m actually thinking, John and Kate had the most real marriage because so many real marriages are pretty fake with partners being insensitive to each other but trying to pass off as happy. How hard is it, really, to CARE about whether or not your spouse is happy? And then maybe do something about it? Apparently it is harder than simply pretending to be happy.

Anyhow. The bachelorette is just creepy. Any show that has a gazillion of one gender vying for the attention of 1 of the other gender just smacks of a complete lack of self-respect on the part of all but the 1 of the people on the show. I think they all deserve whatever they (don’t) get. 🙂

The Hills? People watch that? Really? And not that I will watch it either, but that reality show about dropping celebrities into a jungle, Heidi and Spencer are among those celebrities I believe, now that could be interesting …

    Happy watching!

  19. The only one of those I have ever watched is John and Kate and it was one of those fill in shows for me. Like absolutely nothing else on TV and Im desperate for some TV moments. Yeah I agree with you on both, that woman was mean and degrading to her hubs, and her hubs while he is younger than her should act a little less like the children and more like a hubs/dad.

Im glad you are feeling better!

  20. I too have a great love for Reality TV. It just makes you feel good!

  21. This post made me laugh.

I watch 2/3 of the shows you discussed (JUST started watching Bachelorette, long time J&K fan but not so sure anymore since it makes me depressed). I agree with everything you said!

  22. John and Kate we SO uncomfortable to watch. What a trainwreck…and yet I really hope they pull it together.

  23. I thought you weren’t going to watch another season of the Bachelor/Bachelorette! Ha…. See, it’s impossible not to watch!

  24. Yeah, I’m admitting that I also watched Jon and Kate. My husband would have NEVER put up with me treating him like that. And I would NEVER even imagine treating him like that. Geez.

  25. I have a Lovely Blog Award for you over at my blog The Babble Bubble. Take care.

  26. Good call on the Jon and Kate thing! She was awfully mean to him. And you said that he should man up and not act like a child : ), well sadly, MOST men do not man up. Most men act like a child well into their 40’s so I think he is on point with that…

  27. You are good, you hit the nail on the head with the Jon and Kate thing!

  28. Love Tori and Dean and I am so glad they are back now! So cute. Jon and Kate make me sad and I have never been a big Jillian fan. I still watch though. What would happen if I don’t? I would be totally out of the bachlorette loop. Love your post. 🙂

  29. Huh, Heidi and Spencer, not making it??? Yeah, I agree, however, I didn’t think they’d make it this far either. He’s annoying, and she’s dense. But, hey…Yep, I love The Hills. It comes through mtv.com which is one of the only stations that I can get over in Germany on my computer. It is nice to have a distraction!
