what I learned from the real housewives of the o.c.

The last episode was too much.
And since I wasted many hours of my life watching it, I feel as though there should be a lesson in there somewhere. Here’s what I took away from the series.
*If you get your day in the spotlight, i.e. reality t.v., suddenly you are qualified to create a skin care line, become a singer even though you can’t sing, or design jewelry for Saks.
*Every thing you see is fake, unless it’s something that isn’t a body part.
*Husband’s purchase big pricey items, and then only choose to give that present conveniently when the cameras are around.
*You can’t be sweet and give thoughtful (expensive) Coach wristlets without nasty ladies thinking there is something backstabbing behind it.
*Vickie is awful. I hate when people on T.V. claim they are christians and then act as she does. It gives Christians a really bad rap. She is flirting with other men IN FRONT OF HER HUSBAND, talking mean in front of and behind the backs of the other girls, degrating her husband in front of others. Cussing, drinking, being awful….and yet she doesn’t believe in pre marital sex.
Huh?!?
And did anybody almost roll their eye balls out of their sockets when she put Gretchen down for being an attention stealer, yet proceeded to show every person near her the new Rolex she bought herself? Not only did she have to actually say, “I bought this for myself.” But she had to say it, again, in front of her husband.
Honey, let me tell you why your “love tank” aint full….
*Anyway, I decided that Jeana is sad, but the most with it of all the ladies. And I really like Laurie. Despite her plasticy-ness.
*And what was up with Jo’s hair? She really did look like she was 12.

My goodness, I’m realizing just how sad this post is. I guess if that’s all I learned from the show, then maybe I shouldn’t be watching it. Good thing it was the last season.
Time to see what the NY ladies are up to.

Can I just say I’m glad I’m not a part of “upper class” society? I don’t think I’d fit in very well with my certain small natural body parts, and my fake MJ bag.
Just a thought.
P.S. Jay & Dan – Hope you enjoyed the pictures. They were especially for you.

  1. In response to your question: It is the ex. Well, he’s no longer the ex anymore. My life keeps me on my toes to say the least!

And holy moly, I was thinking EVERYTHING you said about this episode. I def. wanted to kick Vicki in the shin multiple times during this episode. These people are ridiculous and almost all of them are raising little mini-me’s! AGHH!

  2. Sorry, I was busy staring at the pictures. Did you say something?

  3. Oh I love the Housewives. All of them. And love=Sit Every Tuesday Night With My Mouth Agape at the Hilarity, Excess, Drama, Fakeness of it All.

    Yep, love it.

  4. I totally agree with everything you wrote!!! haha and I watch it too!!! Vicki bugs me sooooo bad!!!

I am gonna watch the NYC one too!!!

  5. I can’t look away from the Real Housewives either. I didn’t use to like Laurie but she has really grown on me. I wish she would come back but I actually like her more for not coming back.

  6. The upper class society are the types I nanny for. It always wears on me what their major “problems” in life are….’I just can’t figure out what cabinets to get in our new extension on the house’….yeah, THAT’S your biggest problem in life?? Please, I’ll show you problems. They are so far from reality it drives me nuts. That’s why I can’t stay with families for over 2 years, by then they’ve driven me crazy with their shallowness and I need to move on.

  7. I love watching the housewives! It is really a bad addiction…I mean, seriously what do I get out of it? Vicki is awful. Can’t stand her. So excited for NY! Keep up the awesome blogs!

  8. Sometimes we just need a little mindless TV viewing!

  9. I absolutely agree with Debbie. Don’t feel like it was time wasted. That’s exactly what we need sometimes. I love how it’s the “real” housewives of whatever city they’re featuring. Yeah, real my butt. Whatever.

  10. I really like lauri a lot. It seems like she isnt on ever anymore. She seems like she has a fantastic husband though. I can not stand Vicki, she is too yappy! Sheesh, she has a comment for everything to anyone, and its usually rude. OC is the only one I watch, I tried watching the other 2, but they are just not my brand of drama. lol

I love how catty they are to eachother, as if they have better friends or something. Hello ladies! Realize these ARE your only friends! I am so glad I have my few close friends and one bestie. If thats what those type of friends operate, no thank you. Unless they are handing out lovely expensive gifts, then sign me up! ha ha ha, I kid I kid. (mostly) If it were shoes I think it would be a sin against fashion to not do everything possible for great shoes, am I right?!

  11. Never have seen the show, but your point about so-called Christians bugs me. Actually, one of things that most irritates me is when Christians act unchristianly in big ways.

  12. This just made me glad I don’t watch the show. But I could see the attraction … I just can’t get near these things or I get sucked in and then I feel like I really wasted my time!

  13. First of all, I agree with pretty much everything you said about Vicky although I’ve never heard her mention the Christian beliefs (I haven’t watched the reunion show yet though). She bugs. And I think that the NY housewives are SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING. Now, to be clear, I don’t think they are that interesting, just SO MUCH MORE than the OC peeps. Anyway, now I cannot wait to watch the recap show and boo at every one of them.
