nothing but shoes and yogurt

It’s been a long week. My sweet sweet Taylor is not so sweet this week. Or last week…or actually, well, let’s just say it’s been a long two years. And he’s only three.
I mean, what the heck is up with kids? Or my kid as I’m sure you don’t have this problem. But, seriously, where is the fear and trepidation that we had for our parents? What must I do?
Actually, I know what to do. I did it well in all my years as a nanny. I guess it’s just a bit different when it’s your own. I get lazy and eventually I realize I’m slacking in the discipline. I find I’m giving too many chances or bending the rules just because it’s easier. But it always brings me back to here. To this beautiful place of wondering if a 5 pm bedtime is too early.
You can always tell what’s going on with me by the books I have next to the couch. Here’s what I pulled out today:
It’s time to bring on the Little Momma Smack Down.
I was feeling a bit close to tears tonight, but then I walked into my room and saw these:
I felt a smile spread across my lips. It’s superficial I know, but sometimes a cute pair of shoes it all it takes. Well, that and Pineapple Upside Down Cake Yoplait yogurt. The combination was blissful.
Okay, so as you’ve seen I have some re-reading to do. (this is what, the third time for both books?)
I’ll be back with a well disciplined child.
Or else, I’ll just be back.

  1. Those are sensational shoes. I can’t imagine the world that must be your closet.

  2. its not always a bad thing to inspire a bit of fear in one’s offspring. my children have always been remarkably well behaved, mostly because the consequences of misbehavior were swift, sure and terrible. as my oldest daughter once said… mom, you dont get mad often, but when you do… the wrath of god is preferable. 🙂

  3. Sorry about your 3 yr. old kid. I do agree, sometimes it takes only shoes or maybe a bag for a girl, lady or a mom to make her day, at least! hehehe… and I love your shoes. 🙂 Hot!

  4. Bliss is right…just add some purses and You’ve got yourself a party!

  5. I remember thinking 2 was so easy-breezy… I didn’t know what people were talking about – the ‘terrible twos’? Bah! Even early 3 was OK. But then? Then came 3 1/2. And the Anti-Christ took over my kid’s body when I wasn’t looking. I feel your pain.

I found tying her to the time out chair worked 😉

  6. Gotta love the threes (currently entering that stage myself)…by the way, I have an award for you, come on by my blog to pick it up. 🙂

  7. Girl, those shoes are hawt!

  8. Rockin shoes sista!! Love em!!

Kids are tough…I’m dealing with a 12 yr old that is not having the best grades…UGH

  9. I caught your comment at roll call this morning and LMBO!!! My oldest boy is 15 and I’ve done a whole lot of resisting the urge to put him on a corner with a sign! Add to that my 2 year old daughter who well let’s just say THERE ISN’T A BOOK FOR HER! So nope babe you are not a bad mom.. or maybe we just both are.. in that case the bright side is we aren’t alone, we both love shoes and I’ll bring the yogurt (I love orange mango though)

  10. Ugh. I have those moments/lifetime like days. That’s when I find myself in my pantry with my headphones in going to my “happy place.”

The Lisa Welchel book intrigues me…

  11. ooh…love the shoes 🙂
