lots of stuff to talk about

1.) Describe your latest obsession.
Two words. Online Shopping. I’m just, you know, doing my part for the economy. Giving back. See, it’s not always about me and my needs! Sometimes I sacrifice for the sake of America.
2.) Ask a loved one to use 6 descriptive words to describe you and report your findings. How well do they know you?
Yay, I love this one, because it’s now back to all about me. 😉
So I just asked Jimmy, and with a heavy sigh and a dramatic push of the pause button on the remote, he responded with:

“Sharp – Smart, not easily fooled, and you see through people as well as the reality of situations.”

“Fun – Unpredictable and funny” “Loving – You have a deep love for your family and friends.”

“Wise – Able to discern and analyze situations and choose a wise course of action.”
“Thoughtful – From leaving notes, to making an effort to cook even though you hate it, you are thoughtful inside and out.”

“Stylish – Not to be taken in a fashion way. Stylish Attitude.”
In his words exactly.
Ummmm, ok. He makes me sound good, so I’ll take it.
3.) Who was your first bloggy friend? How did you find each other? Do you still correspond?
Okay, so I assume by bloggy friend it means someone who I don’t know or didn’t know before I started my blog. I would have to say, Wep. She’s been a faithful follower from near beginning, and has always checked in and left the sweetest comments.
4.) Tell us about your pet! If you have a weird infatuation with your dog or cat we want to hear about it (or if they just plain drive you crazy)…but please don’t compare them to children. It’s just not the same.
Oh. I can go on and on about my dog, and how we just can’t handle the pooch. When I went through my few months of anxiety, I had this need for a dog. I felt that I wanted a pup to snuggle with and that would love me despite my flaws. So, I started the search for a rescued dog. We found Bradley. Actually he was Corky when we met him. That should have been my first clue. A dog with the name Corky had to be needy. (Life Goes On, remember that show?) My second clue should have been when the foster mom shoved him on my lap and told me I could take him home with me that night. Oh wait that was the third clue. Second clue should have been when he was adopted from the rescue only to be brought back a week later. But, as I remind Jimmy nearly every day, I can’t be held responsible for my decisions when I’m having anxiety.
Oh this dog. You will never meet a needier dog. He’s so desperate for affection that if you’re shaking your foot while on the couch or chair, he will position himself under that foot so he’s getting some kind of petting. It’s just never enough for good ol Bradley. You can be in the process of loving on him, and he will be scratching your arm, or leg, or face, begging for more. It’s sad. Really sad. But, it’s more than that. I can’t even begin to make him sound as needy as he is. Lets just put it this way. Even dog people have a hard time loving my dog. Are you kinda getting it now?
Here, watch this…This is Greg playing with Bradley. See what the dog will put up with just to be touched???
Have I mentioned we’re not dog people? I walk him, feed him, and pet him (with my foot…on accident, but it counts), but I don’t have the desire to dress him and take him with me everywhere I go. He’s a dog. Not my child. Not even close. Although, I think that’s what he desires to be. After a year, we decided we loved him too much to keep him. We thought he would be better off with a retired couple or an empty nester. So, we set out to find him just the right home. Months later, no takers. Apparently nobody is going through anxiety bad enough to fall for such a scam. Not to mention, Taylor kinda likes him. In his own weird way. He said Bradley’s our family and he has to live in our house.
How can I let him go after that?
So, he’s here for now. Right under my foot. Ugh.

Comments

  1. 1-On behalf of America, thank you for doing your part!
2-You may be perfect according to Jimmy’s answers, and if so Good on ya! (and, I’m not jealous at all)
4-Bradley! He’s just totally chillin’ in that video! Love it!

  2. Why is that dogs feel they need to be touching you all the time? Why can’t they just be in the same room, like husbands? lol

    I love your post!

  3. awwwww…. poor lil poochy… no one wants him! i’d be upset too!!! i have two rescued dogs…rescues can be challenging…our dog, sam, still won’t let men – including my hubby who feeds her every morning – come near her.

  4. 1. I soooo wanted to name my daughter Summer but the hubs said no. Lame, right? I love your name 😉
    2. I LOVE online shopping. And hey! You’re right, shopping DOES give back to the economy. I’ll try that line on the hubs next time!
    3. Poor dog! LOL I’m not much of a dog person either but recently we’ve been thinking of getting one. We must be crazy. Or bored.

  5. First off: Jimmy is clearly a smart man, even tho he gives you ‘tude when he has to pause his show to interact with his wife (do ALL men do that or what??)

Second: girl, I SO know the feeling of loving/hating the dog!! Mine isn’t as needy, but he makes up for it in other obnoxious ways. Oh yes he does.

  6. What great qualities you have. Also, I am so a dog person (and would never dress my dog) but some dogs are too needy. My Dads are but he made them like that because he is like that (he was the one that got the ’empty nest’ when I moved out). They are a perfect match.

  7. Thank you for giving back and helping America. You may also help America on my behalf if you would like!

Wow–your husband paused the TV remote and gave you words and descriptions like that right off the cuff? Either you have a great and loving and articulate husband or he checked out the prompts ahead of time, knew what was coming and had something rehearsed!!!

And I love the story about your dog. I had a cat that was like that … I really grew to dislike her and felt TERRIBLE about it. Was finally able to pawn her off on somebody. So funny that the dog will put up with anything to get attention or petting!

  8. Man, online shopping. It’s so… easy. It’s like, 10 times the options, with zero of the inconveniences! And the lack of instant gratification is totally made up for by the fact that you get presents in the mail and feel really popular. I had to stop after the holidays. My credit card made me.

    Also, Bradley is absolutely adorable!

  9. great words – hope you liked your descriptions!

  10. Men and their dogs. We have 3 dogs, dad has his huge black lab (for the shop-sure, if that’s the case why does he come home with him everynight and weekends?), Savanna has a black lab, Jasmine has a Brittany Spaniel. Well Chloe had puupies with Dozer and we had 10 puppies. We are down to 5 and my husband is telling me we should keep one for another shop dog. Uh does it say stupid on my forehead. No, No, and No more dogs! Sorry I had to tell someone and I randomly picked you off of Mama Kat’s list.

  11. Those were some real purty words… Good for you for having such an intelligent and loving husband.

As for the dog… most of us have pets we might consider trading in at some point in our lives. Maybe we could stuff them into brown bags and drive to a PET SWAP, where we’d just trade with someone… no questions asked. After all, they say change is good…

  12. I’ve tried to comment 3 times since damned Blogger won’t let me! Grrrr (I’m always scared that the reason Blogger won’t let me comment sometimes is because I say things like, “damned Blogger… grrrr”. So, nice Blogger! Please let me comment on Summer’s blog, won’t you? Oh, thank you so much, dear Blogger!” There… that might work)

Anyway, I had a rescue dog named Corky once. But she was cool. Wish I could see the video of your Corky/Bradley, but sadly, my damned computer won’t let me. I mean, my wonderful computer has been having some mood issues lately and is being fickle. Grrrr.

  13. Your post made me chuckle. Especially the part about petting the dog with your foot.

  14. Oh, this is a neat post. Your dog is sooooo cute;)

  15. Great list!! 🙂

  16. Oh, admit it…you’d be lost without your pooch! Super-cute video. And just think, you could write a book about your ridiculously needy dog and it could become a movie with Owen Wilson and Jennifer Anniston and be number 1 at the box office. ANd people would say “I don’t believe the dog was THAT bad” But you’d know. The movie didn’t even come close.

  17. The part about accidentally touching him with your foot counting as petting absolutely cracked me up b/c I am EXACTLY like that with our English Bulldog Moose. I can’t stand the guy but he so wants to be loved but I just seriously despise his smelly, getting a little too happy, drooling, loafer, needy butt! He was SO CUTE as a tiny puppy! He totally had me fooled!

  18. That’s why I have cats! I no eeww huh? But they are outdoor cats, and since I got them, I have not seen one single mouse in on or around our property. So they can stay as long as they like! And they don’t require petting as they are pretty wild!

  19. Thank you for giving your all for your country. Keep up the good work.

Nothing like waking up to the paw on the arm and the hot stinky breath in your ear as you fall out of bed. Never mind – I thought you were talking about your spouse not a poor doggie.

  20. Hey…you gotta shop right! It’s helping US out..lol! You go girl!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  21. here again i’m saying in someone’s comment….i’m jealous of your 6 descriptive words. sounds like your hubby is a big sweetie. 🙂

  22. That’s what I tell Pat too. I’m doing my part and I’m not doing enough.

    Must. Spend. More.

That dog is SO cute. Did you try advertising on Craigslist? Poodles go fast…everyone wants one. Everyone except you. I think it’s funny that you wanted a dog to cuddle and now you’re mad at it for cuddling. What a selfish selfish dog owner.

Were you around when we fostered a dog because I thought I wanted one?? Yeah…he’s not around any longer.

  23. That was such a cute post! The dog is adorable!
