finding balance in beauty | rediscovering old favorites

It’s no secret that I love makeup. I love playing with hair color and styles, and fashion and shopping fills me with a giddy joy. I love, love, love sharing my latest and greatest finds on my blog and youtube channel, and love even more hearing from you guys on what you’re excited about as well.

But with all that, I am finding more of a need than ever before, to create and inspire balance in beauty, both for myself and others. I look around at my “collection” and it’s seriously overwhelming. It’s so easy to get caught up with feeling like we need more, especially when there’s always something new and shiny being touted as the latest “must have” item.

The rush to get it and the excitement of having it though is fleeting. Soon we feel empty and bored, and we’re once again back on the hunt for something new to “fulfill” us.

It’s never ending.
There has to be a balance.
And personally, I’ve had enough of overloading myself with things I don’t need!
Let’s instead, wise up, and start shopping our stash!!!

Shopping our stash = just another way to say, rediscover what you already have.

Which is exactly what I’ve been doing these last few months, and let me just tell you, it has saved us a TON of money! And what do you know? I am still surviving (I’m a survivor!) and still have plenty of makeup to choose from, with a whole lot left over!
(which just means giveaways are coming!)

So my friend, Trisha from A Glittery Life and I decided to make a video sharing what we’ve each recently rediscovered, with the hopes that it would inspire some of you to maybe do the same…

P.S. I am absolutely loving the conversation happening over in the comments of this video on YouTube…and would love for you to join in!

While I LOVE beauty, health, and all things related, more than anything my heart and soul belongs to Jesus! This quote expresses exactly what I hope shines more than anything:

“Like Paul and every other believer, my life is no longer my own. The focus must not be on me, but on Christ. When someone hears from me publicly, I want it all to point to Him.”

{quote from John MacArthur}
xoxo, Summer

  1. Love hearing you say this. As a sometimes blogger and having access to swag from conferences (hello, Allume!!) and publishers/companies it’s so easy to get sucked into excess – even if we aren’t paying for it. I know I need to really pare down and bless others. I love your videos, but I do have to watch my temptation levels when they start to rise. Implementing a serious use it up policy for myself. :)
