do you know what your voice sounds like?

Ever spend a lot time around someone,
so much so,
that the two of you start to talk the same?
Look the same?
Act the same?
And suddenly you wonder where you went.
Where your voice went.
It’s not even that it’s a bad thing, necessarily…
it’s just that you realize that you need to get back to you.
You at your core.
You in your truth.
No matter what,
there has to be moments here and there,
when you allow that to happen.
You grant yourself time to remember and reflect on who you are.
And what YOUR truth is.
And if you take that moment,
you might just recognize something familiar.
Your own unique voice.
The one that God gave you,
and only you.
That’s the voice you deserve to hear.
That’s the voice I’m trying to get back.
{in life & in blogging/writing}
Because I realized,
I seem to have lost my voice.

  1. This photo is a work of art. So unique. I hate when simple things like this photo make me think, “I could have done that!”, well why the hell didn’t I?

I get what you’re saying. It happens to me when I’m around people from NJ, where I grew up. The accent, the attitude, all of it.

  2. I hear ya lady. When that starts to happen for me…I give myself a time out. : )

  3. it’s definitely hard not to adopt someone’s traits, expressions, and even beliefs when you’re around them so often. i’m sure you’ll get your voice back. actually, this blog IS your voice!
