breath of fresh air

{via}
That’s how I feel about the New Year.
Every year, I get a little more than giddy about the changes a new year can bring.
It all kinda starts right around my birthday.
A new age bringing in a new year.
And it just feels kinda amazing.
I know a lot of people think it’s overrated and all that jazz, but I just can’t help but feel delight and hope and excitement.
It was after all, the new year that I decided my old way of life was not working for me, and I decided moving to California was just the change I needed….
And just look at me now.
{ha.}
So this year is no different.
I’ve already begun thinking, making my list, praying over it, pondering and…..
well, you get the idea.
Jimmy’s working on his own list, and we’re gonna meet together on New Years Eve and go over them all together.
Then, I’m thinking we’re gonna frame them or stick em on the fridge…
stick em on the fridge, on the fridge, on the fridge….
{extra points for guessing the song}
so that we’ll constantly be reminded.
Here’s a sneak peek at mine:
~No more TV at nights for the WHOLE DANG FAMILY!
We need more intentional time around here.
Things are abouts to get done round here, shoooot.
~I need to read more. One book a month is the new goal.
With the no t.v. thing, this should be easily attained!
{Already getting started on The Alchemist…amazing.}
~Family devotions every night.
Especially with Taylor heading into Kindergarten and out of his private christian preschool.
~Become better at thank you cards.
I don’t know that I remembered to send a single one all year.
Lame.
~Blog differently, but better.
You may not notice, but my heart will.
~Drink less soda.
I’m bouts to explode from the carbonation.
~~~~~~~
So whatchoogot?
Tell me all the dirty deets…I wanna hear and be inspired.
Inspire me.
  1. Very good idea!! Mine are to work out more, eat less bad food and enjoy the little moments with my kids. I also want to take more pictures and be more fashionable!!
  2. I am going to really work on getting my life more organized and also living a healthy lifestyle (regarding eating and exercise).
  3. I really like your goal of living with intention…that’s something that I’ve been thinking alot about too.
    I’m going to post my goals tonight – stay tuned!
  4. My goal is always to loose weight but I am totally sticking with it this year. I got the 30 day shred and its been great! I gave up pop 6 months ago and although it was hard at first, I’m learning to adjust!
    I’m also going to try to be more green this year, cleaning products, organic foods and less meat eating!
  5. I also get excited of the thought of a new start. That is what a new year is. A WHOLE NEW START.
  6. I don’t do much for resolutions because if I make too many, I won’t keep them. My goal is to work out at least 5-6 days a week.
    Less tv would be a nice one but with it being frigid here, it’s hard to go outside. Definitely when it gets nice(r).
  7. This is an ongoing thing that I’m still trying to master, but I told myself that I’m really going to try and ENJOY my blessings (the kids) and not just ENDURE them. Ya know? I kind of just go through the motions and don’t really enjoy all that my lovely little munchkins have to offer.
    And I want to make my blog pretty in hopes that I will update more.
    And last but not least, work on my relationship with God. Just like my kids I kinda just go through the motions…Go to Church, go to Bible study, go to MOPS, but not really LISTEN or open my heart and mind to him. I just go because that’s what I’m supposed to do…I want to go because it’s what I WANT to do.
    Oh wait, one more. Dress like you. Have a sense of style like you…but that may be a lost cause since I’m 27 and haven’t had any luck with my “style” yet. Hmph.
  8. I love the New Year too! My resolution is basically to try and complete as much as my 101 in 1001 days list that I can. Good luck on your goals!
    P.S. The no tv at night thing would be hard for me!
  9. No TV?!? That is HUGE!
    I am starting a 101 in 1001 in Janurary. Stuff needs to get done around here! (and around my midsection)
    There may be some baby makin’ on my new years resolution list….now that’s inspirational. 🙂
  10. Family devotionals are so valuable. And hard to be consistent with for me…maybe I should put that on the top of my list.
    I love the description of your heart knowing the way to blog. Beautiful. I will love it any way you write I’m sure.
  11. I haven’t even started a list yet. perhaps I need to get my ass into gear.
  12. Reading more is on my list, too! I used to read a ton and miss it, and fear my brain is turning to mush since my down time between dance has been waaaaaay too much TV. Oh, and I love the Alchemist!!! I gave it to my BF for his birthday and my bro for Christmas. SUCH a good story!
    Happy New Year!
    xoxo J
  13. My top 5 list
    1. Get my bills paid off! Debt free please!
    2. Eat less crap.
    3. Drink less soda (great minds think alike!)
    4. Work out! I think I want to join a class.. spin maybe? Yoga? hmm..
    5. Deciding which major I want to settle on, and get a start on finishing my education!
    :)))) I LOVE NEW YEARS AS WELL!!!!
  14. You are always just so inspiring. You have said some things here that I need to do like the no more whole family watching TV.
    We need to cut this down, a lot.
  20. it’s still way too soon for me to reevaluate my life and form any kind of resolutions. i will do that tomorrow.
    seriously, i am impressed with your list… and with your commitment and love for your family.
    happy new year, summer! can’t wait to read what is in your heart this coming year!
  21. I would like to:
    Eat more rounded meals, and healthier.
  22. That’s a great list (loved the Alchemist btw!).
    I haven’t started on mine yet, but I know it will include losing the after April baby weight and becoming more organized and less cluttered.
  23. Love new years… So excited.
  24. my new years resolution…become an expert at rockband. that’s right…by the end of 2010, ya’ll better watch out for me!
  25. Hmmm…I am not sure actually. I just know 2010 is going to be what I make of it.
    Cheers my love!! Love your list, very inspirational xoxo
  26. My goal is to get myself more organized, have more patience with my little guy, and do more for my at home business.
  27. Here’s to fresh starts! I LOVE then too!
  28. My goal is the same as many other people’s…live a healthier lifestyle and lose weight. But I make it my goal every year. Some years it works, some years it doesn’t. Like in 2008, I lost 35lbs, in 2009 I gained 10, so I’m hoping in 2010 I can work off those 10lbs and some. Hubby doesn’t believe in making New Years resolutions, something about living a life of excellence year round and making and keeping goals periodically, but I’ve introduced the concept to the dudes this year with hope that they will keep to the one I, I mean they, chose: being nice to each other. Wish us luck on that one ’cause we need it. Hope 2010 rocks for you!
  29. You know, if you read on the commercials you’d be surprised how much reading you can do and still watch TV. You can read a lot while watching baseball on TV too.
    I like your list! We’ll be working on ours tonight.
    Visiting from Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. I used the super power prompt.
  32. I’m with you. I know that a lot of people consider resolutions over-rated, but you’re right. They bring on a fresh perspective of a new year and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
    I love your idea of reading 1 book a month. I’d like to read more as well and that sounds like a reachable goal.
    Loved your list! 🙂
  33. Stopping by from Mama Kat’s. I like your resolutions because hey are purposeful. I need to get on board with the no TV thing…it is taking over.
  34. I’m glad I don’t live in your house.
    No tv? Family time? More reading? What’s gotten INTO you!?! Next thing I know you’re going to be limiting carbs and sweets…
  35. I love the nightly devotion idea. We’ve done that in our house and I think it makes a real difference in the overall spirit of the house. I’d have a hard time with no nighttime TV though! I’m going to exercise 3x a week and cook more often. My plan is to have a “cooking day” where I make and freeze all or most of the meals for the week.
    Happy New Year!
  36. NO fast food !! save money and gets the last few lbs off!
