blogversations

Hey guys!
Okay, so I’m not feeling all that great. My throat hurts from all the yelling I did at my HurryDate event that I hosted last night. So, I’m not too fun much this week. In fact, I couldn’t even bear to watch the video back to make sure it looked ok. So, I hope it’s not too bad.
Anyway, this week, it’s all about the discipline. For yourself, your child/ren, your husband, your pets…whatever. Just give us the low down on what’s been working for ya.
Also, I’d love to hear your ideas for future Blogversations. I am going to start a list so any ideas or suggestions you have would be just awesome.
And now without further audieu:

  1. You are too cute!

I’ll be doing mine tomorrow….after our Sharks hockey game :o)

  2. Feel better!

  3. Ok I’m doing this, but I’m going to be late…like say…around 3-ish.

I can’t believe you do these in just one shot. I re do them at LEAST five times before I get the “perfect” video that still is not perfect, but I’m too tired and annoyed with myself to do it again.

    Sigh.

This will be fun though…I love all the suggestions everyone has given so far. 😉

  4. Where’d my f-ing comment go!?!

  5. Summer, you’re so funny “that’s why he has toys and a TV, right?”

  6. thanks for visiting my blog.

I like the blogversations. What a mouthful! lol

  7. Hope you are feeling better. I’ll have to come back when it is not so noisy where I am … my hubby is playing Call of Duty and it is like a war zone here! Here comes the helicopter strike ……

  8. Ok mine is up!!

  9. Feel better soon.

No vlog from me, but I wanted to answer your rhetorical question about husbands (being one gives me some aura of authority, doesn’t it?) and dogs (owning one, see above).

In husbands and dogs and even kids, consistency is the key. I’ve come to the conclusion that I could yodel when something wrong is done and with time and consistency, it would be just as effective (or ineffective) as any other method. It is the association with whatever the cueing action is that leads to the effectiveness. (Sounds like I read a lot of Skinner and Kubler-Ross, does it not.)

So long as the trainee desires approval from the trainer, just about any consistent cue works. If the trainee does *not* desire approval, you’re in trouble.

And by the way, teenagers almost never want approval on a consistent basis.

    So on the question of getting hubby to take out the garbage, may I recommend a 12″ frying pan to the side of the head as a cue of disapproval. It is hard to ignore and penetrates most gadget induced fogs as well. {*grin*}

  10. Okay, I’m up!!

  11. Oh my goodness. I LOVE this video. ahaha..

  12. omg i totally wanna do this blogversations thing!! but i dont have a webcam! ok someone needs to teach me this….

where do i get one? can i just install one into my laptop? i would have so much fun with this!!!!! are they expensive???

  13. Well, I cannot respond with a video but must say…..you and Mama Kat are getting things out there. We all go through this stuff and why not share what works or what we’ve tried. Anyway, If I ever figure out something that works I’ll let you know. lol

Hint on taking the trash out, just don’t do it yourself. You gotta be willing to let it stack up and even smell funny. If that does not work, nothing will and you still have a voice(cuz you didn’t yell at him)

    Have a great day!

  14. This is too funny. Mama Kat’s too. I wish I had a wedcam so I could do one back. I don’t have any kids and my husband is still in a very helpful, first year marriage stage, where he basically does everything without being asked. I’m sure that won’t last forever. My dog is another story. He has eaten every piece of furniture in the house. And I have NO discipline for him. I just tell myself I love him more than I love things and snuggle him anyway. I better not be as much of a pushover with my unborn children or I will create monsters.

  15. Sorry girl. I took a break from blogging this weekend! I’ll be back in for the blogversation next time!

  16. Hehe, again… too funny! Love your videos:) Gosh, I feel like I hardly have time any more for discipline with anything! Even my fluting!!! Sad… when I do have time though, I definitely am disciplined with practicing. I love it and I gotta be!

    Hmm, what else???

Steve and I both decided to read the entire bible this year (chronologically) so i’ve actually been fairly disciplined in reading every day so far! It is only February though… so here’s hoping!

Oh and as far as being the disciplinarian (sp???) we LOVE the water bottle on Parker. Not sure how well that would work on kids though… might get you in as much trouble as spanking “harder” but it does wonders on cats!

    Miss you and love you!

  17. Your blogversations are so hilarious – I love them! I loved the statement about how it might be fun to have him taken away for a little while! 🙂 Do you use a webcam or a video camera? I have one heck of a time getting blogger to accept any video that’s longer than 10 seconds long. Grrrr….
