7 reasons you gotta love being pregnant

I didn’t always enjoy my first pregnancy with Taylor. It was all so new and different. More so painful and not fun. But, this time around I knew what to expect and though I’ve had rough patches, I think, dare I say…I may almost like this pregnancy.

So, I wanted to write out all the things I enjoy about being pregnant lest I forget them in a few weeks.

1. There is no dieting allowed. And you HAVE to eat more calories. How can this not bring happiness?
2. I can wear things that otherwise wouldn’t be “cute.” See number 3…
3. I can let it all hang out…like wearing my 2 piece or a tight dress and not having to suck it in! I am really loving that!!!
4. Sleep is important, and naps are expected.
5. I can’t change the sheets so thats one more chore I must pass over to Jimmy.
6. I can’t bend over the bath, so I can’t bathe Taylor or the dog….another chore to be passed on.
7. For once you can blame all your issues, tears and irrational behaviors on hormones for 9 WHOLE MONTHS!

I’m sure there are more, but I’m in my third trimester. Maybe I should have written this in the second.
😉

***Update: To be fair, I did write this weeks later….Many More Reasons I’m Not Loving Pregnancy****

  1. Milk it while you can…that’s what I always say. Well, not really, but it sounded good.

    Happy Featured blogger day!

  2. Being pregnant is a great excuess to keep the freezer stocked with ice cream… you know for one of those days that the hormones hit.

  3. ooohhh… I adored pregnancy!!!

  4. happy sits day!!!

i am in my 1st pregnancy now.

i could probably make a list of 100+ reasons why i LOVE being pregnant.

  5. You know you also get equal time post pregnancy, right? Another nine months to be free!

  6. I loved being pregnant (perhaps why I have 5 children);) Congrats on your pregnancy and keeping getting all you can from it while you are allowed the excuses!! I miss those naps! Sniff sniff. ~ Pamela from SITS

  7. I loved being pregnant! My most favorite part was the kicks from my daughter.

  8. I loved being pregnant…some of the best times in my life!

  9. It’s been forever since I’ve been pregnant…but it wasn’t too bad 🙂

  10. The husband and I are on the five year plan (only a mere year and a half in), but I’ve already managed to feel that bombarding sense of maternal instinct. I look forward to the baby bump (when it comes), and the “perks” that come with it. 🙂

  11. Oh, honey, you can use the hormone explanation for the tears a whole lot longer than nine months. Please do, it legitimizes it for the rest of us! BG

  12. HAPPY SITS DAY! My first pregnancy was not so fun, too! Morning sickness until the day he was born, but my second was a breeze.

I love the list! I so remember being glad to pass on bathtime and ever since it has been Daddy’s job.

  13. Here on my third visit from SITS! Just added myself as follower. Am I coming off like a freaky weirdo fan?

This was such a good post…almost makes me think I’ll get pregnant again! NOT!

I had a grand old time when I was pregnant too … especially with the eating thing. Then I got slammed with gestational diabetes and the party got shut down.

I’m guessing you have the second kid by now, based on the dates???? (I’m really bad at math) so congrats????!!!!! (you probably didn’t…I am an idiot. I’m going to shut up now but I JUST LOVE YOUR BLOG!

  14. Ooh, I wish I could’ve passed on those chores to my husband! He always just said, “So don’t do them!” If it were up to him, we’d have a dirty smelly bed and dirty smelly children.

    Just kidding!

  15. Sigh, pregnant. Before my second one, I said to my husband that I wanted to be pg again so that everyone would treat me special again. Moms out there – YOU know what I mean, right? My husband thought it sounded totally whack! I was kinda like “oh, did I say that out loud?”

  16. All excellent reasons. I don’t have kids yet, but I’ve totally been tempted to buy maternity clothes just because they look so much more comfortable! There’s my confession for the day. 🙂 Enjoy your SITS day!

  17. oooooh, don’t forget the requirement to have foot massages because your feet are swollen and you can’t walk on them without a thirty minute massage.

  18. Oh, I miss being pregnant. I did feel the love, most of the time. Though I hated it when people would give me the “Oh she is pregnant.” When I was upset about something. Hey dude, you made me cry not my hormones.

  19. Absolutly! Hope you have a great SITS day!

  20. I agree with all of these! I also liked feeling extra special – everyone is always interested in babies 🙂

  21. going into my pregnancy, i really looked forward to fact that i’d have an excuse to gain weight and not worry about it! but then i had really big issues with how big i did get–it was pretty weird.

  22. Spying the cute maternity clothes in Target last night, I actually missed being pregnant for a moment. Unfortunately, my stomach does not realize my youngest is 2 and it should be flat and skinny again by now.

  23. I actually loved those things about being pregnant too!! It’s been 3 1/2 months now and I miss it sometimes, but then I think of swollen feet and I’m good!! Nothing says swelling better than being 9 months pregnant in August!! But I did love it and will do it all over again one day.

  24. Way to look on the brightside. I definitely did not enjoy much about being pregnant.

  25. Oh, ya gotta enjoy the perks while ya can. A second pregnancy is a fast 9 months. At least for me. Hopefully for you, too.

  26. Not having to suck it in is the best part for sure. I think this goes both ways as their are great things and bad things about it.

    Cute post!

  27. I loved being pregnant. Yeah, I’m in the minority, I know. Great list — you forgot one though: when you go to a restaurant, the hostess sees very pregnant woman who needs to eat and immediately moves you to the front of the line to get a table. Ahhh, the good old days.

  28. I loved being pregnant too. Even when I was at that akward, big-as-a-house stage, I really loved it.

  29. Even after 3 months of non-stop puking and 11 lbs weight loss, I still loved being pregnant!!

  30. lol.

I’d love to be able to pass on key chores, but my last pregnancy kicked my butt. I was soooo not loving it.

    Happy SITS day!

  31. I loved being pregnant and would do it again right now. The hard part is trying to convince Big daddy to go for Number 6!

  32. Pregnancy was never easy for me, but the reasons you listed are all very valid points!! hehe

  33. Hahaha!!
    Enjoy it while you can!!

  34. Hahaha, too funny & all true…love it! Especially the part where there’s no diet and letting it all hang out…woo hoo, makes me wanna get pregnant again 🙂

  35. Good things to look forward to! You don’t need to share the other details with me now. It’ll just get chocked up into the worry category (see my comment on that post)!

  36. I’m with you, when you know what to expect it’s not as scary and you can just have fun with it.

  37. You’ve always seemed the type to look for the silver lining! =)

  38. I think my favorite was always #4…. naps!

  39. My favorite was having the hubby rub my feet just for the heck of it.

  40. You are cracking me up–both the good and the bad points! I LOVED being pregnant the first time around, but teh second time, there were a lot more aches and pains, I thought. I still love being pregnant–I know, I’m crazy. My husband says we’re done, and I’ll just have to go start a business. Hee hee

  41. We have to milk it for all we’re worth while pregnant. Those 9 months are over so quickly and then we make up for it anyhow with the increased responsibilities!

  42. Ohhh, your post makes me miss pregnancy. Such a good time. 🙂 Now I’ll go read what you don’t like about it! ha!

  43. I have to add that I’m looking forward to not dealing with the cat litter. Come to think of it, I don’t do that now! 🙂

  44. Happy SITS day to you! I love your list…I would say a great thing about being pregnant is all the extra attention you get. It’s the one time when you can be totally into yourself and other people are too. Like you said with #4 you can sleep and everyone takes care of you! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

  45. Pregnancy does have it’s perks, doesn’t it? Once I finished being sick for 1/2 of it, I loved it! Happy SITS day!

  46. Very cute 🙂 All these things to one day look forward to…and not look forward to. haha.
    Bella

  47. Happy SITS day!!! What a great post – I especially loved the no dieting and HAVING to eat extra food when I was pregnant – oh, and the ability to blame everything on hormones was lovely as well. I love your blog!

  48. This is the first post I read after joining SITS and I must say it was a good one! I have to pass it on to my sister who is now pregnant with her second baby, her oldest is a Taylor also!

  49. Happy SITS day! I completely enjoyed by second pregnancy more than my first!

  50. Hilarious post!

Funny…I didn’t much like being pg. I’m so glad I’m not anymore! (although…I will admit that you’ve gone so pretty darn good reasons why being pg is great!).
    Happy SITS day!

  51. Hope you are enjoying your SITS day! I’m lovin’ your blog… so cute!

I’ve been through two pregnancies… and while both were fairly easy (no complications), I’d rather just give birth again than the nine month pregnancy! LOL

  52. Hilarious!!!!

May I add one? Strangers smile at you and open doors for you.

  53. I miss being pregnant…the wondering what my baby will look like, how people treated me..everyone is so nice so as to “not upset the pregnant woman”. I loved it.

    Happy SITS day! 🙂

  54. Aww I am missing being pregnant and I was only pregnant four months ago!

  55. I didn’t love it to death when I was pregnant, but sometimes I find myself missing it. The kicks, the wondering… the awe… 🙂 Thanks for the great reminder of some of the better things about pregnancy!

  56. Oh i couldn’t agree more – milk it why you can. I loved passing the bathroom cleaning chores to my hubby. He had to bathe my dd, vacuum. It was grand. Almost wants to make me become pregnant again. LOL

  57. This gives me something to look forward to when it is my turn someday!! Love this post!

  58. I’m in the second trimester of my first pregnancy and I’m totally loving it. I used to roll my eyes at people who said they love being pregnant, I’m happy to be wrong.

  59. I loved being pregos, the no dieting being my fav!

  60. Pregnancy sure had its ups (all the oohing and aahing) and downs (where my boobs are in the aftermath).

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    :^) Anna

  61. I’m glad you loved being pregnant. My favorite part was being able to feel the baby moving inside of me.

    That was incredible!
